Sea Land Air is a very well run operation. I haven't flown with them yet but their CFI is a hilarious guy and is very fun to deal with. They've got excellent staff as well !

Mike, haha like it or not you make me laugh. You've got funny expressions and I enjoy hearing you speak.
Mind you though, with the fun attributes you've got, you do take safety very seriously and I admire that very much.
I should comment on the impression I have from MichaelP the CFI of sea land air, he's very precise and does things the right way, he's respectful and is a fun guy to be around.

with everything in this thread about czbb. I would take a look at Pitt pretty closely too. Keep in mind that if you train out of pitt you have a practise area shortly after takeoff as well as they have 3 runways. 26L/08R is great for learning how to land for the beginner and its 7000 feet? (dont quote me on that, but please correct) and 26R/08L is nice and short(1900', again im trying to reach back into the dark corners of my brain), great practise for short field takeoff and landing. as for 18/36 its nice to have for that 5% of the time its in use. and the approach to 36 is kinda fun right over the river on short final I think your dual time can be greatly reduced through the course of your training simply for the fact that your not spending .5 every flight enroute to the practise area, or trying to get out of czbb to get some circuits in. as nice as it is to train in such a busy enviroment (Pitt can get busy too!), its not so nice to be sitting on the ground for 5 minutes waiting for a slot to open in the circuit or paying those extra .5's
now as for cross country time, its easy to get out of czbb. you can go to chilliwack or victoria for that requirement. from pitt i think you can go to hope (grass strip that can sometimes be pretty soggy) victoria, or naniamo (i believe, I have never made that flight nor drawn it out on a map to measure distances)
the cheaper route, provided its the same distance from your house as you say, and your rental costs are about the same, would be pitt meadows in my opinion.
my 2 cents.

I spent a few years at YPK as a controller and flight instructor and if you can battle the road traffic, it is a good airport.
Runway 26L/08R is 4000" long, 26R/08L is 2500" long as is 18/36. The north parralel is used by the sky-divers and is therefore seldome used by the schools.
And the down side...besides highway traffic...the fog! Pitt Meadows is fogged in quite a lot during the winter with many days of WOXOF

thanks for the correction...although i image they are 4000 and 2500 feet not inches
czbb get thier share of fog too...but im sure ypk gets a few more days off

You could also look at Glacier Air in Squamish. We have some students from north and west Van who make the drive since I think it would be more relaxing than trying to cross the bridges.
Great area/airport to learn to fly, awesome CFI in Francois, and having the Tantalus range and Garibaldi park as borders to the practice areas isn't all that bad either. Definitely has that laid back friendly atmosphere too.
I don't know much about the schools in the lower mainland but I have met Micheal from Sea land Air and have only heard good things about him and the school.
