Re: Old CFS

Re: Old CFS
You could pile them all up and make a restaurant, similar to the cable house in Kelsey Bay....

Re: Old CFS
In USA, you can not be violated flying without proper charts but can be violated for flying with out of date charts.
I fixed a wobbly table with mine once.
Also used to kill flies.
I sometimes donate mine to the homeless.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Re: Old CFS
When I had a subscription, I donated "old" ones to the Flight School / Students so that they could use them in Ground School for practice exercises reference. Same idea with expired Plates, VNC's, VTA's.
To ensure that they wouldn't be used for Navigation Reference. I'd use a permanent marker and put a huge line diagonally across the cover and write "Expired, Not Suitable for Navigation". I would also write "Expired" across the textblock. http://www.antcolbks.com/BookParts.gif
Also kept a pile of publication (CAP, LO/HI) on the computer desk like C-GGGQ.

When I was undercover for the KGB in Wasilla Alaska (we took the bus from Siberia over) I attended a rally for the mayor and I threw my old CFS on the bon fire of books they were burning that night.

Re: Old CFS
The level of sainthood (and hypocrisy) here is astounding.
Like almost all other (usually IFR) pilots that I know of,
I donate my old CFS's to VFR-only pilots that don't have
expensive pub subscriptions.
Feel free to report me to Transport Enforcement for doing
so - let me guess, it's reckless and/or negligent for me to
do so?
I figure a VFR pilot flying around with a 4 month old CFS
is probably better than a VFR pilot flying around with a
4 year old CFS, but what would I know, compared to
all the legal aviation experts here on avcanada?

Re: Old CFS
I take it with me to bars when I cruise for chicks, I rattle off a few things like "Type J Arcal" and Tower Frequency, blah blah blah. Things like that usually get the girls to swoon, and I cant sing worth shit so 'you've lost that love and feeling' is out.

Dip them in resin, let set, cut across the corners, and you'll have out of date chocks!

Re: Old CFS
Seriously though, any idea why the CFS isn't published in an updatable binder format?
Would seem to me that this would make good optics for TC and NC to come up with a greener solution than churning out however many thousands of these doorstops every two months.
For the 75 bucks and change I theoretically spend every year ensuring I always have up to the minute copies, you would think they could afford to save a few trees?
Heck, I might even pay a 55 dollar processing fee the first time I picked up a new binder.

Re: Old CFS
I have a really old Canada Air Pilot circa 1971 that was published in a binder. Infact, all the IFR stuff you find in a CAP today was combined with the CFS style data for VFR flying. I think there was one for East, and one for West.
