Where is the best corporate job in canada
considering pay, sched, equipment and such?
Re: Where is the best corporate job in canada
I guess it all depends on the individual. Where you want to be, what you want to fly, plays into where your heart wants to be. I met some guys flying a s76 in Teterboro running a client from Manhattan to Teb twice a week. 40 min a week, six figure salary. Great job, I could never do it. The client you're flying for also makes a huge difference. Flying a corporate 727 and waiting for 8 hours on the ramp for a client, is no fun.
But for the most part, I think most guys are deflective and reluctant to give too much information because we don't everyone coming over and f@#king up our sh*t.
But I guess that doesn't really answer your question. So let's say Execaire, or Skyservice.

Re: Where is the best corporate job in canada
what is the best corporate job, sort of like asking which is best a Chev or Ford.
I know that no question is suppost to be stupid but on this one I have to disagree.

Re: Where is the best corporate job in canada
It's a totally relevant question. Factors to be considered would include: equipment, pay/pay scale, is it hourly or salary?, per diems, time off, tied to a pager?, schedule, destinations, pax, etc. etc.
Although, if you're taking about corporate, you'd probably be comparing benz and beamers rather than chevy and ford (well for the clientele anyways).

Re: Where is the best corporate job in canada
In considering what is the "best" corporate job there are many variables. Serious considerations are who you fly with and who your main passenger(s) is/are. The newest, nicest airplane is the world can be a very crappy job if the CEO/owner is a jerk that disrespects your skills. Who you fly with is extremely important. Most corporate jobs involve large amounts of hotel time. If your roady significant other and you do not get along on RONs then spending time in even outstanding locations can become very difficult to deal with. That is why most corporate jobs openings are filled via word of mouth. We need to know that we can get along with the newby. Flying skills can be taught, people skills not so much.
All the rest of the definition of "best" is personal choice. Some will always want the heavy iron. Some want to be home a lot. Some want over seas work, some will prefer domestic. Every job will bring satisfaction to someone. Corporate work has far more variables and choice than airline work. Pick you own poison. Do you want to get paid to fly or wait? That is the main difference between airline and corporate. Can you happily carry somebody elses bags or is that beneth you?
In dealing with corporate work remember that many airplanes are now managed. Sky Service and Execaire manage airplanes for clients. Therefore in the true sense they are not pure corporate jobs. They are a hybrid version. You are assigned to a client and may stay with them for a long period of time. Again each client has their pros and cons. Salary, typical trips, days off, vary wildly between clients.
The last question you need to ask if you are considering a Corporate career is how it impacts your significant other. There is rarely a schedule on this side of the street. Even with the best of intentions the reason the company has this airplane is to go when and where it wants. If you get a phone call and are sent on a unexpected, no notice, longer trip how will that impact your relationship? How about if you are sent to Europe for 10 days? Now do that twice in a month, 3 months in a row. You can not call in sick as there are no reserve folks to back you up. You must (or get to, depending on your point of view), leave your spouse to shovel the snow, cut the lawn, take the kids to soccer, etc. You need a very strong relationship to survive.
That said, I have been with my present client for 6 years. I can not think of a better life style. It has taken me 35 years to get here but I love this situation. Excellent variety, love the people I fly with and for. Operate "heavy Iron" by most corporate definitions. Still have wife version 1.0.
To answer the original question. It is not possible to define the best corporate job in Canada.

Snowbear,
Great post.
I agree with you 100%.
Corporate offers so much variety over airline it is nearly impossible to determine which is best.
As for me, I work for one of the big management company and am assigned to the best client in Canada (for me anyways). I sincerely do think I won the lottery when I was hired and fail to see the need to keep my resume updated. I am certain there are better paying jobs out there, but the life style change would not suit me.
So, to answer the original question, I have the best corporate job in Canada.
Or at least the best one for me.
Cheers,
F

Fouga...
Ditto!
In retrospect after reading snowbear's comment (right on by the way) I realize that you really can't define best, as it differs for the person. But along that train of thought, you can identify some of the better choices out there, which would be a better way to word the question!

Scopiton, whatever ACASS tries to make you beleive, be very careful, most if it is not true!what about flexjet and Acass
That is definitly the worst corporate company ever.
They have been very dishonest with me and most of the other pilots i know who have been working there.
