I heard some experienced high time guys were let go from the 704 and 705 operation. To those already affected and those who may or may not be in the future you have our support.

Re: Where did West Wind Aviation thread go???
ok the uranium market may be suffering like the rest on the TSX and NYSE but come on to just terminate experienced men+women due to lack of business? there is more to it than that!
i just saw a shinny new West Wind ATR42 leaving YYZ last week. so i can't see them firing 705 pilots for no reason.

Re: Where did West Wind Aviation thread go???
Don"t know them or anybody that works there but it appeared from the outside to be a busy company. Maybe someone was talking union. It is after all Saskatchewan.
The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Re: Where did West Wind Aviation thread go???
i dont know, i tend to like the uniform. LOL. This past incident with the firing of the 3 captains is one that boggles people's minds and is in no way a normal occurance at west wind by any means. Many stories have gone around but I refuse to comment until the truth is revealed. One rumor was about union talk. Personally I dont think it is necessary as this is bar none the best company i have worked for yet with a great management team. The HR people are pretty sweet as well. I hope no one takes this incident and judges the company based on it because it is truely a great company.

Re: Where did West Wind Aviation thread go???
haha good one but unlike yourself my work etiquette speaks for itself and i don't have to suck anyones anything to get ahead in a company. No need to have sore knees or sore lips if you are actually pleasant to work with. If that's your level of intelligence then you don't belong in this industry.
Re: Where did West Wind Aviation thread go???
I'm glad your "etiquette" speaks for itself, you must be a real miss manners around work. Because we all know that politeness is what really matters when it comes to making difficult safety decisions. How far did this keeping your mouth shut and nodding politely really get you ahead, is left seat on a 1900 the pinnacle of your dream career?

One again you open your mouth and the only thing everyone can smell is a$$.
You talk about intelligence, yet when you talk it sounds like a brainwashed idiot with a mouth filled with marbles.
These are 3 specific points in your "intelligent" post.
-"firing of the 3 captains is one that boggles people's minds"
-"great management team"
-"I hope no one takes this incident and judges the company based on it because it is truely a great company"
So, I am just wondering cause i happen to know the guys that were "fired"
How is the aviation society suppose to judge a "great company" if a "great management team" "fires 3 captains which boggles people's minds"
If those guys were fired cause of some rash decision by upper management, what was the deciding factor that kept you around? How were you not one of the 3?
Explain to our fellow members what "great management" is.
Make sure you spit next time before you talk cause no one can understand you with your mouth full.

Also aren't the wages below Industry Average. Saskatoon's recent boom in Rent and Property values don't help with the low wages either. I never understood why people stayed as long as they did

tough to find other employers willing to buy out a $36 000 bondI never understood why people stayed as long as they did

Re: Where did West Wind Aviation thread go???
wow you sure do crack me up. I have not read immature literature like that since i was in grade school. Oh yes and how sharp you are with your comebacks, someone give miss one hit wonder an award! Kudos to you! Maybe if your intellect was as sharp as your childish humour you would have read the rest of the sentence that explains why people should not judge westwind by this incident. It says that it "is in no way a normal occurance at west wind by any means." We don't go around firing people for no apparent reason. I do not know as of yet the reason why it happened but I am sure that there must be a reason. Who knows, maybe this time it was not a good reason, but this is an isolated incident and in no way reflects normal company practices. Funny you would mention the whole mouth full of marbles thing because if you havent discovered yet, you are reading text that does not contain sound. Wow no kidding! Therefore the only sound being made would be coming from your yap hole. Wouldn't want all of those "marbles" to get dumped on the floor and create a safety hazard. Which if I were you I would keep my trap shut. That would be the "intelligent" thing to do. Oh and miss Dene I have not forgotten about you. Oh no I haven't. Not sure why you assume I keep quiet and nod and my goal is 1900 captain. You do know we have bigger aircraft that that, don't you? And who says I'll be there for life? I am just enjoying my stay. I like the people and the people like me. A little respect goes a long long way. When the time comes I will be on to the next step of my career without the bridge to west wind being burned. All is well and I bid you good day!

Re: Where did West Wind Aviation thread go???
As far as I know these pilots did there jobs well and they will be a welcome addition at any other company. It doesnt take much for a company to fire a guy, or four for that matter. Hope they dont have mortgages or families in Saskatoon because there isnt many options for aviation jobs in Saskatoon. These people will have to look for new jobs, sell their homes in a tough market, uproot there families and move to ?.......Not sure why they were fired, but if they were talking union I dont see that as grounds for dismissal. If they were showing up late, breaking SOP's, regs and Aircraft, I could see the firings.
Westwind from what I hear is a pretty good company as far as aviation companys go but with the price of housing and cost of living in Saskatoon combined with the Ridiculous bonds they have, its looking like a standard aviation company (standard being shitty)......Good luck to all those affected.

Re: Where did West Wind Aviation thread go???
How can you be so sure that you are well liked? Apparently capable experienced pilots are all dispensable. I am well aware that there are larger aircraft there, which may provide some insight into your vehement justification of highly questionable decisions. I can only assume that you must have your eye on one of those seats, hoping to move forward on the misfortune of others rather than of your own merits. Good luck with that, yes men generally get weeded out prior to the 705 stage, although the odd one makes it through in times of desperation. Sleep well knowing that is the key to your "success".

Re: Where did West Wind Aviation thread go???
allow me to correct you, i do not have my eye on one of those seats and i am not fully justifying the actions. As I said this may be a case where a poor management decision was made. I happen to greatly respect the guys that got let go, and for them to get the boot something drastic must have happened. You obviously know nothing about me so you can keep your opinions to yourself because I definitely do not hope to move ahead on the misfortune of others. When I do move forward it is based solely on my own qualifications. If someone leaves, no matter what the circumstance, if a spot opens up and I get it then that is as far as it goes. None of this preying on others' misfortunes. If I don't deserve it in the first place, no matter the circumstance, I don't get it. Simple as that. Nice to see you think so highly of our 705 pilots. That they are only there because the company was desperate. Total nonsense. Our 705 pilots are great people and deserve the opportunity to fly the ATR.

How soon you forget that only a short while ago before you were employed there, you were calling the management of your company names? Now you have something different to say? So if you forgot what you said let me refresh your memory.

I agree, although it IS saskatchewan, you'd think that they would have a little more professional looking logo, maybe people may take them seriously. Looking at the logo makes you think that it is an airline run by some kindergarteners. Not sure if people will want to fly with an airline that appears that way, mainly non-saskatchewanians. Maybe they'll even hand-write tickets, freight waybills and cargo destination stickers with crayons!!!

So now that you are flying that aircraft that doesnt look so professional, you can refer to the "kindergarteners" as "great management?" I guess that those crafts that are a bit bigger than the one you are on now look very professional.
I never worked for the company you are with but I know you form before when you lived in the north and I can see that nothing has changed since then.

HAHA! That was sk_pile_it?
I was hired at WW to fly these unprofessionally painted airplanes, and when sk_pile_it posted this reply it made management laugh. In fact, what he wrote was copied and put up on a couple bulletin boards around the hangar to make people laugh.
Glad to see you love the management now.
