Anyone know if Costa Rica is a good place for employment for bush pilots? We are thinking about moving there and I am a pilot with low hours on floats - well, I will be by next year but just trying to get a head start on lining something up.
Cheers

To fly for hire in CR there are some hoops you have to jump through. You need to establish yourself as a permanent residence. Then you need to write the commercial and instrument exams. Regs are very close to the FARs. If you are very familiar with the FARs you should have no problem except for that fact that exams questions and answers are in spanish last I heard. No translation provided. Once you have passed the exams; you are required to complete a commercial and multi IFR check ride before they validate and issue a CR commercial license.
Good Luck!
Pura Vida!

I had a friend go down there a couple of years ago to work for the winter, had been flying Caravans on wheels and seemed to easily find a job doing the same in CR. Then again, he had time in type... He was FAA certificated. Good Luck...
