Hello all,

so here I am, just passed the 1000h mark and looking to write the ATPL. Just had a kid though and the thought of spending close to 800$ to do the Aerocourse makes me grind my teeth.

So the question is, what is your take on the best way to self-prepare for the ATPL written? (Books/DVDs/websites?)

thanks in advance

Find someone who did the Aerocourse and borrow their notes, I gave mine to three differant people and they had no problem passing. Of course it is an easy two exams, what a joke.

Unfortunitely I don't have my notes anymore or I'd mail them to you.

If you can't get a set of Aerocourse books, and you
don't want to spend big $$$ ....

Try starting here:

http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/gener ... 0/Menu.htm

Then what the heck, show up and write the
exams. Hell, you might even pass them. If
you don't, you're out $30 but you now know
what you need to study.

Then, write them again. I suspect this might
end up costing you a lot less than $800.

And no one cares what your marks were
on your written tests. Or, how many tries
you took to pass them.

Just a thought.

So I passed the SARON! woot! now looking for some more info about the SAMRA since most of the comments I read call it the harder of the two. If anybody has some more info about the SAMRA I would love a PM or just a post in here!

Much appreciated guys! :)
