I've got a couple questions for you guys...

If i understand correctly Confed. categorizes me under "mature student" (19 yrs). Therefore, to apply, I'd need to send in my Highschool marks and score well on the "mature student test", correct?

If so, what does the test consist of, and how should I prepare for it?

Also, I attended university for about a year (only took 3 courses though), does that matter?

Confed only accepts immature students...

But seriously though, talk to a Confed school counselor and get the info straight from the horses mouth. Don't base any major decisions on avcanada chatter.

I went through this process last year, the test is not hard at all. It covers basic reading/writing and some basic math with a calculator.

You'll need to send them a high school transcript as well. I did well on the test but I didn't get accepted. Apparently there was more competition for spots last year than in any previous year.

I'm on my first year now and 31 years old.
I took a math test last year which was pretty easy and did not take any other test. Actually I have degree, maybe that makes the difference.. also there are many students in our class who can be considered as mature students. If i were in your place I would send them my resume and a cover letter why i want to attend this program so desirous..that was what i did last year and..worked

Aren't mature students those students 19+ who haven't received an OSSD? Therefore, someone 19+ who immigrated to Canada (finished HS or univ in their native country), doesn't have to complete high school in Ontario, but rather just take the mature student test and have that used toward their application.

I'm not 100% sure I'm right on this but I think that's the definition of a "mature student". Hopefully someone can clarify this.

I think if you have youur ossd you dont have to write a test, I was 20 with my ossd and dont recall writing a test(that was 4 years ago mind you) to get in, just handed in my highschool marks and got in.

I was 27 and used high school transcripts from overseas. I also had a previous college diploma but no one seemed to care much about it (other than for exemptions once I was accepted). If I remember correctly, if you apply as a mature student through OCAS then you'll have to write those tests. I chose not to apply as a mature student since I thought my high school grades were competitive.

People over 24(ish) won't have an OSSD, we have the old diploma (can't remember what its called) but I think this requires us to have to apply as a mature student and do their testing.

I have 2 other college diplomas and a whack of university credits and they didn't really care about those either.

It doesn't require you to apply as a mature student... unless they made some changes very recently. I graduated in 1995 from a high school in another country. I used those transcripts when I filed my application through OCAS in 2005. I was accepted off the waiting list (I was 7th on the list) and graduated in 2007.

The old Ontario diplomas were OSSGD (Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma) for grade 12, and OSSHGD (Ontario Secondary School Honours Graduation Diploma) for grade 13.

Just so ya know.
