Dear Westjet.

Please, please, please do not follow the Southwest model to a T. Stick with your customer service, friendly attitudes and lousy jokes but please don´t start treating the pasengers like Sothworst.

Thank you,

Your friendly neighborhood Air Canada employee.

So do WestJet employees get good travel benefits on Southwest yet? If not yet what are the plans?

C'mon tony , you know very well the cult has'nt stopped growing since Westjet's inception. Day by day , week by week , it gets bigger and bigger and that's what scares you. Deep down you know it. You fear it. Admit it.

How's that for "cult speak"?

On a more serious note , it has been a true shite show this week and I am quite pleased and proud of how our people reacted and performed. Hope it's a long time before we see another week like that.

Ivan.
I can't argue with anything you are saying. You are very correct. But you know what happens to cults eh? Just kidding bud. Kuddos to you for serving pizza in YVR. My favourite is all dressed with anchovies. I would have payed full WJ fare to anywhere just for a slice. It's about the same price anyway.

Times are changing for us too. We used to have beer at our gatherings. Now we wait until after the meeting. Also , fewer and fewer of our cheerleaders have pom poms these days.

Geeze. Next thing you know they'll also do away with the monthly "lessons" on airline economics given by professor CanadaEh. Tough times indeed.

Not sour grapes. I just know it will not work out well for Westjet if they start treating their customers (or guests, whatever you want to call em) like Southwest and their cattle call mentality. I always cringed everytime I had a contract that involved me having to take a SW flight.

All aboard all ya alls.

WJ can call their customers whatever the hell they want to be honest as they are clearly a world leader in how to run an airline. This is being recognised not only in North America but all over the world. Teaming up with the other 'Cowboys' seems to be a winning combination as well, as they happen to be the most successful airline in history by North American standards. Let’s face it. WJ is kicking ass and at this point AC is doing little to stop it. This is fact.

Let us all give those at WJ from the top down a big pat on the back; another solid year of growth and customer satisfaction. They also won’t be asking for a bailout next year as there will be no bailouts to give.

Happy New Year everyone and let’s step away from denial and give WJ the credit they deserve.

RB.
In defence of yycflyguy, he is not putting down WJ. He is putting down SW. You really should stop taking shots at AC even when the topic has nothing to do with AC. It only demonstates your blind hatred. Bailout comments, bankruptcy, yadda yadda yadda. How long have you been doing this? How long are you going to keep doing this? How long will you keep up this hopeless, relentless misery? I suspect when you're 59 years old you might look back, AC still flying in your beloved LHR, ten, twelve maybe fifteen times a day and realize it ain't worth it anymore. Naaah, it's just soooo much fun, eh Nygel??? Be careful what you say, BA might just become the next owner of AC and you and I will be on the same team. Pip Pip, Cheerioh old boy.

Tony,

First off ease up on the whisky, and settle down you big idiot.

YYCflywhatever was taking shots at WJ (like you do) and I was merely pointing out that they are just doing fine. In fact they are performing better than most expected. This is FACT. They are rapidly eating away at North American market share. Can you prove otherwise? They have also been touted by some as the best airline in North America from the people who do PROFFESSIONAL ANALYSIS of the industry. No point even looking at the bottom of the list.

At what point did I ever mention bankruptcy and AC? I simply said that there will be no bailouts in the aviation world. Consolidation will be the name of the game and the weak will simply vamoose. What did I say about AC that got you miffed? I wish to see no harm to the carrier. Will my carrier buy AC? I doubt it, although at 200 million bucks it seems a bargain. 30 million people in Canada or 300 million in the US. I think AA is the sensible tie up, among others. You will be lumped in with the train wreck that is United and possibly the Germans. That is if they don’t stretch themselves to thin. They have never done that before! :yawinkle:

Wind your neck in and stop looking like a fool. WJ is a success story and its tie up with the other major success story in the US is big news, whether you like it or not. This has nothing to do with AC.

Toodle pip, and a very Happy New Year to you to sir! (Cough)

P.S. Get your head out of the sand and stop living in denial. After 1900 (WOW) plus posts it is getting a bit amusing!

...and still waiting for all your predictions to happen. Better check the head in the sand. I'll let you know when my load factor has decreased as a result of someone else's market share. Nobody ever questioned WJ's success but somehow you saw something that wasn't there. I still maintain you are not using your judgment well in flyguys' comments. Just another opportunity to take a thread in another direction for another purpose. Could you at least use a bit of humor when you do that? Reference the whiskey comment to yourself.
Toodle pip? Lol, I like that one.
Good new year, mate.

Um, show me where I take a shot at WJ? Like Big Bro Tony pointed out, I am making fun of SW not Team Teal. Southworst gets by on market domination of trailer trash.

Out of curiosity, at what point is it new North American share for WJ and not filling the void that was left behind by the CAI/AC merger? I am glad they are kicking ass and throwing money at their happy employees as somewhere down the road it is my hope that AC sees it to be beneficial to everyone and follows their lead.

Guys,

Tony, I suggest you have a look at load factor vs YIELD etc and then factor in COSTS to see why this is heading the way it is. With a whopping nearing 3000 posts between the two of you, many are negative towards WJ and their 'Apparent Success'. I have got better things to do than point them all out, but I am sure there are many on here who would!

Southwest is the biggest airline in the US and WJ is the fastest growing on the continent. Good partnership in my view.

Anyways, back to the thread.

:goodman:
