Re: U.S. Airways Jet Down in Hudson River
Im currently watching on WPIX NY.. 146 on board and 5 crew. They have the nose outta the water now and seems most are in good condition awaiting to deplane onto one of the many boats that are currently there assisting. The crew seems to have done a fantastic job!! and hope all is well for everyone onboard. They claim its an RJ not an A320?..Who knows, they just touched down 15 mins ago.
Live reports also claim they had just taken off from Laguardia.
Hope this one turns out ok!
Fly safe all.
PS..Its an A320.

Looks like a conventional not T-Tail so I'm guessing CNN has it right and it's a 320.

Watching it on CNN now, and from the interviews, it appears some managed to not only survive a ditching, but actually stayed dry
Good to see a happy ending once in a while!

So my NYC geography is limited but with reference to this picture of LaGuardia would I be correct that its near the top of the picture in that river.

I think so.. they're saying that the plane went down around 42nd street and has gradually moved down river since (now at 23rd st)... wrote:http://www.airliners.net/photo/-/-/0603792/M/

Reporting that the flight crew declared an emergency due to "Double Bird Strike". Witness at the airport says he saw the jet fly thru a flock of birds..

A witness said they were "Canada geese"...
President Bush is still the President, we'll have to hope that he doesn't see this attack as being by Canadian suicide geese and invade Canada.
On the box they're saying they are Rolls Royce engines!
Do they use the V2500 engine? This has a Rolls Royce compressor and fan section.

Maybe Jazz will consider putting life jackets back on the planes now lol! Never know when you could use one.

Careful, you will get this thread pulled.Maybe Jazz will consider putting life jackets back on the planes now lol! Never know when you could use one.
I was going to suggest Jazz is saving money on life jackets to design quick pop out snow plows...but I won't.
The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.
