Air Canada Jazz London,Ontario

Post by eddie13 »

Does anyone have any experience working at AC Jazz in London, Ontario? I have an interview next week. I just have to write my CARS for my M1 and need 6 months time and more tasks for my M2.

The pay isn't the best, but the experience, tasks and time are the greatest deciding factors for me right now.

Any insight would be welcome.

Thank You

I cannot answer your question about the details of Jazz but I will say I think personally this would be a good job for you at this stage in your career...this is just my opinion.

Not that you were asking this, but you need ONE YEAR and another log book complete to 70% to get your M2 after you have your M1. Same thing going M2 to M1.

Everyone thinks it's 6 months, it's NOT. It's ONE YEAR.

Of course it depends on who you get at TC, as always. If you have a guy there telling you 6 months, get his name and keep dealing with him specifically, otherwise you might have to follow the rules, haha.

Thanks for your input guys.

I do realise that I require 1 year for my M2. I already have 6 months in time already, I just require 6 MORE months of M2 and I have a logbook started for my M2 tasks.

I also wish i had a guy at TC that asked for 6 months. lol

My bad.

I just keep hearing 6 months over and over again from people giving wrong advice, I can't resist chiming in because it's next to impossible to find anything actually REFERRING to this when dealing with TC.

Just ignore me then, haha.

I'm currently on the job hunt as well. I'm from London and was curious about Jazz. I'm worried about getting my log book signed off. Would it be a problem at Jazz? If so I'll head back up to the NWT.

Looking at that Collective Agreement, Article 5.01.01 (page 17) states that a new hire can come in at any level up to and including the 48 -60 month level. This pays $25.02 per hour. The top level is for 84+ months, and pays $26.95 per hour. So, if you come in licensed and endorsed on the CRJ and or Dash 8, I bet they will say that they are limited to following the collective agreement. Not to much negotiating.

I hope that all the AMEs at Jazz make it well known to their CAW reps that this is an inferior wage for the work and responsibility they have, and must be addressed in the upcoming contract negotiations.

Hi, I am an apprentice and working at Air Canada Jazz Line Maintenance. I would like to know how's the work in Jazz heavy London Ontario base. Is it lots of log book sign off there....specially on the flight control stuff. I really need the flight control sign off in my log book.

No, I am with Air Canada.... I was just wondering why you feel you cannot fill your logbook with the required tasks while working in Line Maintenance at Jazz... I think you should be able to do this, but maybe I'm wrong. Perhaps if you are at a small station, you do not have too much opportunity to do these things?
