Orca flying YYJ-YXX?

Post by Flap Operator »

I saw on Orca's website that they have flights from Victoria to Abbotsford. When did this happen?
I also saw on their site that don't have any technology to check their spelling.

I guess that they are in the process of buying Airspeed who have been doing that run for many years now.

Does that mean they'll be flying the 310's or whatever it was Airspeed had?

Shame that Airspeed is being devoured by Okra.

They are Regency in a whale's skin.
Same business practices and same type of flying.

ie: everybody loses.

Zero.
As far as i know. No pilots there have paid for their training, the training is provided and yes the pilots are paid to do training. The way is should be. Pilots are paid to fly. Maintanance is excellent. Buisness practices are better than they have been in the past at yvr. Though they could definitely improve im sure. Little step up from Sonic/Navair maybe but its something in the right direction.

Thats how i see it anyways.

There is a lot of competition in YVR at this level of aviation. Comments such as V1's have to be taken with a grain of salt. I have worked for Orca and have found them to be quite fair, hardworking and honest people. NOT AT ALL LIKE REGENCY!

One thing YVR has never had, is strong competition. In most areas only duopolies exist.
Two piston operators, two commuter airlines, two turbine cargo operators, two prop medevac operators and maybe three jet charter companies.

Perhaps the Okra bashing comes from people with memories. I'm not one to usually bother with this kind of thing however the slanderous website he created against a previous operator here still makes my blood boil when I think of it. He is lucky that that particular operator is more passive than myself. There is a host of other similiar things that I won't bother to post on here as well.

Don't forget the Daily Show as well. Leprechaun...Only you could get away with calling him that. If I tried I'd end up spitting teeth. Hope your doing well in AB man...

Ummm...No. Like Sparkfarmer said they are not at all like RXX. That is a fact. Unlike Regency the whale will prevail.

I don't like to speak badly of other companies, nor is it my place, but I've heard some questionable things about that company. Apparently things used to be good, but recently have slowly starting going downhill. Mind you, this is all from what I've heard from people more plugged in than I, as I left 703 quite a few years ago before they even existed.
There are better operators around there, though if you're just wanting to get the hours and run it's not a bad place.

I guess if you like living with your parents and don't mind flying the Navajo for a few years, I would say go for it. But I also believe the only reason Orca exists is because of Regency and Navair. For reasons I don’t want to bring up again the practices of those companies had to have been some the most heartless and inconsiderate. I have a feeling that unless some new, and I mean brand new startup happens which provides solid service and pays their employees appropriately, Vancouver will never be able to get rid of the stink it has when it comes to 703. For that reason I have pretty much come to the conclusion that the only way to get back to west coast will be through an airline. I also find it hard to believe that nobody in YVR is doing that "Pay for your PPC" bullshit.

I haven't heard of any pay for your ppc at all anywhere. But i do think training bonds that totally favor companies can be just as bad, and are discussed heavily on here.
I spoke with the owners of Orca and have friends who fly there, and all this talk is based on past anger.
If you haven't let it go yet, in all respect you may want to see a counsellor.

Careful, V1..don't start saying things you cant back up. I would hate to have to start this up again. TRUST ME when I say I know things that would complicate things for you. The biggest thing that has changed at orca is the air crew. In the beginning the pilots were very qualified, good guys who knew what they were doing. People were hired for their flying skills and not if they got along with the G.M. The people that suffer are the rich clients that are flying to YAZ. Its weird when you're captain also doubles as a reservations agent.

Their maintenance is good, I will vouch for that.

Edited so its doesnt get pulled.

A.N. - keep your little people in check, dont have some little dispatcher/bag loader flap their mouth and start problems for ya. ;)
