For YEG ctr
Hello,
I was wondering what the boys and girls of Edmonton center think about the following scenario in the NDAS.
Say I was cruising along at FL225 - just 500' below the floor of your airspace - VFR, in something like a Turbine Otter equipped with O2. Personally, I would give you guys a courtesy ('by the way, I'm just below your airspace') call. Would this be considered a nuisance since legally controlled airspace does not begin until FL230? Or would you rather have that than some silent target tickling the bottom of your skirt?
Your thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

I don't work at EG ACC but work up at YZF. I'm sure they'd appreciate a call if you're anywhere between the diamond mines and YZF. There is a lot of traffic that calls them 75-80 out on the mine tracks requesting clearance into controlled airspace. Some flight following might be beneficial to you because you probably have MPE9409 behind you at FL220 250 kts faster than you.
Anywhere else I'm sure they don't care. You're call tho, 126.7 might be the best option here.

Also (for your sake, not centers), if you are only 500' in a light under a medium, there may be some wake turbulence issues.

Thanks for the responses!
We don't get near YZF very often, mostly around YBK and the coast, but thanks for the heads up NJ.
