CSI - So bad you can't turn away...
So a light twin (KingAir 100 size) has a problem and ends of crashing. The CSI squad arrives on the secene and immediately focuses on the toilet as the problem area. Of course it's a 767 size lav but what the hell do I know. Under the toilet is a "bleed line" which looks much like your mom's old Filter Queen vaccuum hose. A screw from the disassembled toilet was used to puncture said bleed line which then allowed hot gases into the cabin. It was mentioned that the bleed lines are routed far way from the engines though for safety or such. So the bleed air leak developed which caused the engine to overheat which casued the crash. Case closed. Plus the damn Feds swooped in later and grabbed the black box so it was unavailable.

Re: CSI - So bad you can't turn away...
haha so true, I love tv airplanes :p
Re: CSI - So bad you can't turn away...
I just can't watch movies/TV shows with airplanes. You'll see a Lear 25 tax up, then in flight the passengers will be walking around with drinks then the same people will deplane a 737.
Or, some idiot always calls final for runway forty-four....
The all time low, was McGyver escaping the cabin of a DC3 through the wheel well!

Or escaping with the airplane made of tarps and and engine from a cement mixer... the mythbusters busted that one though.Doc wrote:The all time low, was McGyver escaping the cabin of a DC3 through the wheel well!

One of my absolute favorites was Walker Texas Ranger, when . bends over, eats dirt, and then announces, "Plane crashed here."
Absolute worst goes to the boarding of Air Force One on executive decision though.

Another good one was on the movie Turistas when the Caravan is starting up/taking off... sounds like a piston. Why the hell wouldn't they just use the sound the Van produced on it's own.

Flightplan. Or any of the Turbulence movies.
I think it is funny how Airplane got as many technical details correct as they did when they were trying to spoof.

Mayday does it for me. Can't watch more than 5 minutes before I have to change the channel or risk throwing my remote through the TV screen. I know some people rave about it but I can't stand the way they present the incident.

My favorite was the first season of 24 when Jack said 'bring me the fastest plane you've got' at a regional airport and the guy showed up with a Caravan.

Top Gun
Opening sequence they kept switching between a F-14 and A-4
the Fancy mig is an F-5
"I'm going to slam on the brakes and he"ll fly right by"
Hard deck is 10,000'
Maverick starts in a flat spin over land and crashes 20 miles off shore
So many things wrong with the ejection that kills goose to list
The "F-5s" carrying exocet missles, they wouldn't be able to dog fight even if they were carrying them
"Negative ghost rider the pattern is full"
The negative 3G push over while inverted and taking a picture
Flame away

Re: CSI - So bad you can't turn away...
I rented Fire in the Amazon once because I heard Sandra Bollocks gets naked in it. (not worth it by the way, too dark and grainy.. )
Anyways, as they're running through the jungle, guys with AK-47's chasing them, this 185 on floats pulls up to a dock.
"Hurry!" the pilot yells, they all pile in. Next scene is shot from the back with the camera on the floor so all you can see out the windows is sky.
the pilot yells "Ready!?" as he grabs the 2 prop levers and pulls them into feather.
Next scene shows the 185 gracefully take to the sky.
But I'm sure only pilots notice this shit.

This was actually used in the Vietnam war, but during the vertical scissors, not a tail chase.Lurch wrote: "I'm going to slam on the brakes and he"ll fly right by"
It was the 'Mig 28' that was in the pushover. This is how they got the proof that it could still operate at negative G with its 'inverted fuel tanks'.The negative 3G push over while inverted and taking a picture![]()
But the worst part is Tom Cruise's terrible off-key rendition of That Loving Feeling.

No way! The part where Steven Segal dies is the best scene in the whole movie!Topspin wrote: Absolute worst goes to the boarding of Air Force One on executive decision though.

A Cherokee 140 I used to fly and maintain was in the movie Blonde and Blonder with Pam Anderson and Denise Richards.

We painted up a Beech Musketeer for the crashed version (at the end of the clip). Sometimes you just have to work with what you are given.
