where to go need help

Post by left rudder »

Hello all:

Very new here and need some help! I currently live in the USA (have been for 25 years but was born Canadian am still Canadian and will die Canadian) and have been flying for 2 airlines and one fractional airline. I am now in the process of moving back to Canada (long story, but very happy to come home) I have an ATP (FAA) and all the other tickets Comm, Inst etc. but understand it's an easy conversion to Canadian now.

I have 8000 hours total time 7000 hours Pic 3500 multi with 2500 being PIC and 2500 turbine with 1900 PIC. most PIC is 135 Canada 704 (I think) and about 800 121/Canada 705?? Type in an ERJ, C-550 and have flown the CRJ 100/200 about 300 hours but no type. Also flown a zillion singles, Tail wheel, tricycle etc. 400 hours in a pilatus Pilatus PC 12 lots of Multi's Navajo, king air etc.

I have absolutely no idea of the Canadian airline market other then what I am reading on this great web site. Question I have is where is a good place to start my Canadian job search. Who if anyone is hiring street captains (direct entry Captains) would my times here in Canada qualify for a left seat position? What road blocks do you see, and most importantly what airlines to begin with I know Air Trans, Air Can, Jazz, just heard about Porter, and am learning other Names

Any help is much appreciated, as I said I really am not familiar with things such as pay scales, commuting, jump seating, benefits, the real low life carriers etc. all are real unknowns to me ( I feel like I am having to learn all about another country.....wait I guess I am)

Be gentle

Thanks Mitch

If you want a direct captain spot at an airline, the only one who hires DEC is Porter. Not sure what the pay is, but they are hiring. Canjet would be another one to look into. They need 737 pilots, not sure if they hire DEC though.

Corporate companies to check out would be Image Air, Chartright, Partnerjet, and Skyservice out of YYZ.

Check out www.pilotcareercenter.com and check out a list of Canadian airlines and corporate outfits. You have more than enough time to get hired by any company in Canada, however theres not too much hiring going on.
