One question:
Will the snow be gone by then?

Re: Airdrie airshow July 22 2009
If I recall correctly, the only month it didn't snow in 2006 was July, so, perhaps!

The airshow of course, I am born and raised in Calgary, I don't know why so many people are surprised with the snow...

I live nearby and will definately attend the show, if I don't have to work..., looks like a great lineup you have going and I hope they all show up. The last Lethbridge show I went to was kind of disappointing as a number of participants were unable to attend. Have you had many hoops to jump through in dealing with the Airport Authorities and Airdrie's history of trying to stop anything aviation related at the airport...

As for thoughts on the show, I think the Sabre is the biggest draw for me, I love the older jets. I'm not sure how hard it is to find flying examples of post WW2 jet in the US who might be willing to bring them to airshows, even for a static display. But everything else on your list looks great and I'm looking forward to it!

I'm glad the Sabre display will be a bit longer...cost for a fly by seamed a bit steep.

Re: Airdrie airshow July 22 2009
I wonder if the a$$ hole who lives off the end of the runway will be out there documenting low flying so he can call in TC enforcement?
Re: Airdrie airshow July 22 2009
I will definitely be attending! It will be an airshow week with Airdrie on Wednesday and Lethbridge on the weekend. My kids will be in heaven!!! (well and me too!)
Do you have your start times set yet for the afternoon and evening? I'm thinking of getting out of work to make it for their for the whole afternoon and evening.

What's the deal as far as flying in goes? Any time restrictions or a/c parking limitations? Special procedures?

Too bad.EngineGuy wrote:So like I said... This year there will be no fly in traffic allowed. With all there is to do for a first time show the powers that be do not want to worry about public traffic this time around.
I know that jumping into your own plane and flying in is a huge thrill for many pilots, I am sorry to say that you can not do that this time around.
Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait for the following weekend and fly to another show I heard about - Oshkosh I think it's called. They allow fly-in traffic there.

Hope your event goes well,

I know I had to go into YBW
instead of Airdrie to get some NDT done, so it must have happened.
Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?
Re: Airdrie airshow July 22 2009
The traffic on the way there was INSANE!! It took me 2.5hrs to drive from central Calgary to the Airdrie Airport. I must say however, that the organizers did an excellent job arranging logistics such as traffic control and parking.
I just have a simple point and shoot camera, but here is what got:

Re: Airdrie airshow July 22 2009
The air performances were really well flown and it was great having something so close to Calgary. My only complaint is about the organiztion for things like traffic control and parking. If ever done again there needs to be some consideration to having some parking off site and having people bussed in like in Lethbridge. I think this could have helped control some of the crowds so that those driving in could have made the opening performance of the Snowbirds. It was too bad that when the Snowbirds flew over head only half of the crowed was there to watch. I thought I left with lots of time and I just made it in. My normally half hour drive took almost two hours. I think the other shame was that everyone left right after the final performance when there was still lots to do and listen two. Maybe if done ever again they could hold it on a weekend so that people could stay for the evening.
