Looking for a super cub

Post by Blaine Beaven »

Hey,

Just thought I would throw a line out here to see if anyone knows of any supercubs for sale. I've been prowling the internet, but am always looking for more sites/local info. If you have one or know of one for sale, please email me at blaineo_beaver@hotmail.com.

Thanks!
Blaine

I find, when looking for obscure tailwheel aircraft the most valuable resource tends to be www.barnstormers.com

Does this Cub need to be a certified machine?

There have been a couple nice looking homebuilt ones for very reasonable asking prices in COPA lately.

If I had $150K to spend on a Super Toy...

www.cubcrafters.com

I've never flown one but they sure look fun.

Good luck.

Thanks for all of the responses so far!

I have been all over the internet lately, and have seen all of the sites mentioned. I was more getting after the "local" knowledge of the forum members, as I know sometimes a plane may be for sale with very little advertising (I just sold one like that!).

Thanks :)

Yeah they are a hoot to fly.

What I'd suggest is to get the addresses of anybody that owns one in Canada or the US. Then make up labels and send out letters to see who is interested. You can get all the owners from the various online databases.

I did that ages ago when I was shopping for a specific type and found 70 or so, most folks didn't reply, one guy replied that he'd "rather sell his spouse" and a couple of others were interested in talking.

Lots of folks may be 'thinking' about selling but not have an ad up so its worth trying.

Barnstormers
Trade-a-plane

Are great places. It might be worth looking down here in the US, as lots of folks are selling their toys (for obvious reasons)

The Super Cub is an awesome bird. My boss just put in 23 gal tanks, now I won't be able to feel my legs after I get down.
