Post by Edelweiss air »

Hello,
My buddy at work told me that Hamilton tower is supposed to be closing due to the lack of traffic now that Pen air gone. Is this true? Sounds more like a rumour to me..........Anyone heard anything? :?:

They changed the airspace around but I doubt the tower will ever go

There is still alot of cargo traffic at night

The rumour is false. Hamilton Tower is NOT closing. It's even in the latest Collective Agreement that Navcanada will not close any towers during the life of this contract.

Not quite so definitive:

"NAV Canada stated they have no plans at this time for any tower or ACC closures."

Which means 5 seconds after the contract was inked, their minds can change.

I stand corrected....

I just reread the briefing that went out and I saw the "no plans" line but does anyone remember the wording of the actual clause....or is there one?

There is no clause in the contract. Only what they told the bargaining committee.

There is a clause that Navcan will not 'contract out' during the life of the collective agreement.
