Another apprenitce looking for work

Post by tin_wings »

I was laid off last month and I'm currently looking for work as a level three apprentice. I have been sending out resumes for the last month like a mad woman but no calls yet. I have been primarily working on R44, R22 and 206B for the last year and a half. I also have limited experience on Bell 205, 212.

I'm looking for a job in Alberta, Sask, or Manitoba so If anyone knows of any heli operators looking for a hard working nearly licensed apprentice please let me know.

Thanks

I'm not sure who you got laid off from, but Air Canada will NOT leave me alone about going to work for them in Edmonton or Winnipeg.

Now, I've not worked for them before. I hear some good stuff and a bucketload of bad stuff, but it's all second and third hand information, so take it for what it's worth. But yeah, they've emailed me something like 6 times now trying to get me to go out west.

If you have no illusions of a career.........sure go for Air Canada. You'll get some great experience and maybe a type course. Just don't plan your future around that place.

Remember too, it may be Aveos and not Air Canada you'll be working for so make sure you look into that. In any case, it's a decent job if you need one.

If you really need to work, look outside those provinces you prefer.

But maybe working in minus 45 isn't your idea of work.

As far as I can remember...didn't we all start there? Its a AME's responsibility to help the apprentices along so they to can become AME's. Its a apprentices responsibility to be respectful of the time a AME is putting into them.

Too bad many AMEs don't bother to help the apprentices along the way instead of treating us like dog shit. The excuse 'We all had to go through it' doesn't justify the attitude and it doesn't assist with industry retention either.

Well my spelling sucks, so if it looks remotely close I don't catch it. Don't worry I inspect better than I write.

General statement here:
If a AME treats you like shit they are just compensating for their own lack of expertise, because they don't know either. Unless of course... you deserve it.

Ahhhh Dickheads, a unfortunate factor of life. To bad the economic times have forced people to interact with dickheads more. Its nice to be able to change your working situation if need be. More often the not though the dickheads ussually get "taken care of".

True. 'Dickheads tend to be taken care of'; that's why there are so many of them in the industry.

What did I say? And yup I have my own company, I'm the director and the janitor. Or like my wife likes to point out anyone with $500.00 bucks can have their own company. But if you can elaborate on my suck-age I'm all ears.
