Restricted Radio Telephone Operators Certificate
Good day,
In order to apply for a position, I need to obtain a Restricted Radio Telephone Operators Certificate. I called TC and they don't deliver exam anymore. How can I get this Certificate?
I did study the guide on TC website http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.ns ... ric21e.pdf
Is this enough?
Does the exam only include written exercises?
Thanks,
DNRFA

Re: Restricted Radio Telephone Operators Certificate
Any flight school can issue you a radio operators certificate.
Go in and ask to take the exam. I imagine paying for an hour of their time would be fair so expect to pay around $50-$60 to take the exam. I don't know if there are any other related fees.

Industry Canada is the Department responsible for the certification process. Here is the information from their site:
RIC-21 - Study Guide for the Restricted Operator Certificate With Aeronautical Qualification
RIC-21 - Study Guide for the Restricted Operator Certificate With Aeronautical Qualification
3.1 Exam
Examinations for the Restricted Operator Certificate with Aeronautical Qualification can be conducted at either a district office of Industry Canada or by one of its accredited examiners. These examiners are typically individuals who are engaged in the aeronautical industry.
Application for the examination can be made to either party. To find the nearest district office of Industry Canada, see Appendix F.
The examination may consist of written, practical and oral exercises. The candidate must satisfy an examiner that he or she:
is capable of operating radiotelephone equipment;
possesses a general knowledge of radiotelephone operating procedures, of the international regulations applicable to the aeronautical service and, specifically, of those regulations relating to the safety of life; and
possesses a general knowledge of the Radiocommunication Act and the regulations made thereunder.

Re: Restricted Radio Telephone Operators Certificate
Thanks for the info.
I've just called a flight school in YQB and they offer the exam for 20 $.
CD, I called the Quebec Office this morning and they don't offer the exam anymore. I believe they now have delegate people in various flight schools/companies.

Re: Restricted Radio Telephone Operators Certificate
Ah well, I guess it's the way of the future in all government Departments -- delegating to industry. At least it's only $20...
