Do you mean at CYYC itself or are you referring to the schools in the area?

Best training school is a relative term... what do you want/expect/need. You can have the best school/instructor in the world but if you can only get to fly twice a month you're not going to progress very far. Likewise, you can have availability 24/7 but if YOUR instructor doesn't "click" with you, you're not going to move forward either.

I would highly recommend visiting the schools and meeting with the instructor possibly assigned to you. Getting along with that person is going to be key. Don't let any school sell you a ground school kit etc until you decide to stay there as each school has a few things that might be different. Go on at least 2 discovery flights with 2 different schools to get the feel of the place.

?! :bear:

Well, if I could fly at the international airport itself doing an instructor rating, that would be cool, but I'm looking at the whole area.

Just looking for quality instructors at a school that's not going to disappear next season where I could possibly end up employed as well.

I think you have it a bit backwards when it comes to Calgary. If you want to finish an instructor rating while still in the hiring season you're not really looking for a quality school vs. a school with a class 1 who will be available to take you on.

My initial statement stands, it's not the school, it's the instructor you should be looking for.

Good Luck

From the prices YYC schools charge, I'd pack up and head alittle east to MB. Find a small airport with a school and get it done cheaper.
I taught at St Andrews airport at Winnipeg Aviation. We wern't much to look at but it was good training at a fair price.

I'll have to throw the "Where's the best flight training school in Calgary?....Or am I totally deluded to even think of training there?" questions back at the original poster

I suspect all the schools in the CYYC or CYBW area are questionable as seen from the lack of recommendations from anyone (except one guy mentinoning Morgan).

I'd also suspect that Guzen has some reason to think that's he deluded for even entertaining the idea. :smt102

Calgary Flying Club is very good, although you might have trouble getting bookings. When I was last there you had to book a month in advance. Not sure if things have improved since then.

As others have said, you are probably better going somewhere less busy. There are schools in Red Deer, Okotoks and High River. Others have recommended Harv's Air in Winnipeg.
