Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
Hi folks,
apparently GGN pilot are going on strike around July 1st. Without CBA for while, their managment push pilots in unsafe position as salves. Most of them are Pissed off enough and are going to mandate their union for a strike. Not a good news for Air Canada, not at all.
to be contiued....

What unsafe positions? I'd hate to be a salve.
Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
I'd rather be a balm than a salve.
I'm da' balm.

Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
I thinks he means they are being rendered down as "salves". That would suck as well. Good Luck.

Is it a requirement to be nearly functionally illiterate to
be a pilot, or is it just strongly recommended?

wouldn't A/C just use Jazz in the mean time? not being smart cause I really don't know....also I heard the owner of GGN just died recently.
Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
i doubt jazz is gonna put on 5 flights a day to every mid-size town in the maritimes (as opposed to all the big ones...) with halifax as a hub

Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
No I am aware of that but they could offset the sting of the strike by putting on say 2 jazz flights rather than 5 GGN flights...that is to say that Jazz has enough aircraft available.
Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
Some random guy says that some people at GGN are mad about something. Does that even qualify as gossip?
Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
I'm all for working towards having a positive, productive work environment in which an employer takes responsibility of its employees...AND the employee in turn will work ten-fold for the company.....But that statement is challenging to swallow...especially when most of you @ GGN have nothing to compare it to.warriorpilotrights wrote: their managment push pilots in unsafe position as salves.
The words "unsafe & slaves" don't apply IMHO to GGN...
Careful of the hornets nest kids...
Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
I didn't say this before because I really can't take the initial poster seriously, but I figured I should clarify:
For what it's worth, I know lots of the people at GGN and I see clear evidence that safety is an integral part of their company culture, and is emphasized and re-emphasized from senior management on down. They do stuff by the book, and having observed them for some time now, I think they run a completely legit and above-board operation, especially when it comes to safety for their flight crew and passengers. What buddy said in the initial post is good for a laugh, and I have no idea if the union part is true, but he is a complete moonbat if he suggests that management pushes pilots to fly unsafely.

Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
I worked for GGN for 7 great years and they are certainly not a dangerous outfit. Tell your buddy to go work for a couple other outfits before complaining about it. 11 gdo's, 70-90 hours a month flying, I don't think that's over the top in terms of hours worked to be honest. Every time GGN goes through contract negotiations there are threats of a strike, I'd be surprised.
ho ho ho merry christmas

I did operations coordination for them and they were always taking the safest decision toward weather or a mechanical event affecting safety.
Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
I surely hope you're just a random moron and not someone within the company, or even worse the pilot group, trying to scare management during the negotiations.warriorpilotrights wrote:Hi folks,

Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
Good for you guys, there's no shame in fighting for better working conditions. You are an inspiration to us future pilots.
Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
I have many friends there and have never heard of anything being unsafe. HOWEVER they are worked very hard and the term that was given to me was "treated like robots". I had my own experience with GGN and was not impressed however that being said most people that I know there are relatively happy.
I really hope for the sake of our industry as a whole that they get the better working conditions that all pilots deserve. Just because things are worse other places doesn't mean they have to be the same there.
Good luck kids.

OOh! look, he only has one post... troll anyone?

Gravity lands us, we just make it look good.
Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
What would be interesting is if they did strike and Jazz was asked to do the flying ... would they ? Let's go back 12 years and remember when GGN and CMA (both non-unionized) flew during the Regional strike. Would this be pay back time or would ALPA respect another union's strike decision and refuse to fly.

Being treated like a salve isn't necessarily a bad thing; you could be used as one of those salves that help hot women keep their boobs taut and perky for instance.

Re: Air Georgian Pilots are going on strike!
I think it's an advantage during the hiring process--candidates can't read the fine print in the contract.Hedley wrote:Is it a requirement to be nearly functionally illiterate to

Is it just me, or could the original poster have been guilty of drinking-and-posting? It looks like the fingers might not have been fully functioning on the keyboard at those critical moments when a consonant was needed.
Ok, it is just me.
