Re: New Routes
Hopefully that means new hire Ground Schools sooner rather than later......
Re: New Routes
From what I hear new courses won't be till the fall. We are currently a little heavy on the pilot side of things. That being said we are taking the aircraft orders for 2009.
Hold my beer and watch this!
Re: New Routes
I was told my course date will probably be in January. That date slipped from October at my telephone interview. Hopefully this news will adjust the course date back to the fall.

Dave P will be the best to answer this one.
I do believe they have spots fill for the fall that may be why you were told Jan.
But then again I am not in the know like Dave.

Any truth to the rumour of LOA's being offered to the pilots?WALL E wrote:We are currently a little heavy on the pilot side of things.

Re: New Routes
In addition to the opportunity for part-time flying for pilots, there is a voluntary LOA being offered to all positions.Donald wrote:Any truth to the rumour of LOA's being offered to the pilots?WALL E wrote:We are currently a little heavy on the pilot side of things.
I know of a few pilots who are taking six months off to travel around Europe.
Back to the topic, though; YYJ-HNL flew pretty much under the radar.

Re: New Routes
Let me guess .... ur going to travel around Europe on a Free AC Jumseat Agreement .... unbelievalbe ... and also ....I am posting this not to vent at Westjet pilots .... I have absolutly nothing against them .... this a vent on the AC stand bye policy .... how, as an employee of the company ... I get seated in 34B 5 times now, and a reciprical Westjet pilot gets puts in J class .... yet if any of our employees get put up there .... the agents never hear the end of it .... I know ... the Westjet pilots pay a heafty fee to sit up there ... oh wait .... no they don't ... forgot .... but we know .... ur "Working On It" to make it free for us as well .... just don't get it .... anyway for those Westjet pilots who don't know what J class is .... it's those widely spaced out seats normally in the first 5 or 6 rows of the airplane .. but all things aside, I think the Reciprical Jumpseat agreement we have is the best thing in the world .... when I fly with westjet I get treated like a full fare "guest" ..... although I don't charge "guests" 6 dollars a beer to stay at my house ... but I'm sitll pissed about the J class ... and one more thing .... If I here anonther Westjet pilot complain about slowing down for something doing .78 in cruise again ... Ill be doing 261 knots in my transitions for the rest of my life. ... what a joke .... oh ... and any chance of the short gate RNP tonight ????? Just thought I'd ask .......I know we're 14 to land ..... I am out ...

Ever stop to think that WJ has more than one JS or interline agreement? Re: New Routes
yyz-mia just made my day..only wish it was year round.....maybe it should be...AC has one a day and its a jungle jet can never get on:)
Re: New Routes
Why doesnt Westjet do Calgary-Houston? I cant understand that. There is so many people travelling between Calgary and Houston. Industry wise they are almost sister cities. I bellieve Continental alone does it 4 times a day. I think WJ could get a big piece of that pie. As for Dogshit, the RNP shortgates and .78 makes WJ money. WJ doesnt need government handouts.
Re: New Routes
point taken!
How about a YYZ-GCM direct.....if you WJ guys have not been to GCM...the demographic supports it..especially in the summer when AC goes to one flight a week on Sundays?!...and for some reason the local airline does not have the brains to figure it out...I am guessing its just a matter of time...

Re: New Routes
You just answered your own question... between Continental and Jazz, market is saturated.5dayer wrote:Why doesnt Westjet do Calgary-Houston?
