SASKATOON — Two men are dead and two are injured after a small plane crashed Sunday night at the Kamsack airport.

The crash of the four-seat Piper airplane took place around 9:30 p.m. The plane had taxied to the north-end of the runway and took off but experienced trouble in the air, say RCMP. It is believed the plane made contact again with the ground near the runway.

The 50-year-old pilot from Saskatoon, plus a 63-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. A 30-year-old man and 54-year-old man were taken to Saskatoon’s Royal University Hospital with undetermined injuries.

Town officials declined to comment on the crash, referring calls to RCMP.

Kamsack is located roughly 81 kilometres southwest of Yorkton.

Transport Canada has been advised of the crash and will continue investigating.

Another Piper Malibu crash, that's the 3rd Fatal accident in Canada in less than 2 years with this type of aircraft.

The syndrome is well known in the USA as the "doctor-killer" syndrome. I recall a dentist who flew his young family of four into the ground in bad weather somewhere on the US East coast... while he could afford first class tickets for all of them plus their birds and hamsters.
I'm pretty sure a larger number of doctors die in car accidents. You are still as dead if you own a construction company and fly a 182 into the ground. Lack of proficiency and/or bad luck knows no boundaries.

I can't see how this is related to the other two crashes. The first was a catastrophic engine failure in rough terrain. The second, an in-flight break up of a much modified aircraft. This one doesn't look like either.

Deepest sympathies for all involved...

Is it normal to have 15 some crashes in the past 2 weeks?

Gee I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed. Still no news on that Bell 206 in northern Quebec, that one does not look good. We're in the high season for flying though.

For small airplanes, it is crash season, so to speak... over 100 crashes and other mishaps reported in two weeks overall, see here:
