CYOW today?

Post by BTD »

Wondering if anyone knows what the deal was at CYOW today? We came in around 14:30 didn't hear anything on the radio.

About 15-20 min later Embraer landed looked like 4 airport firetrucks following them, then on the drive to the hotel we passed 3 city fire trucks and 2 fire paramedic trucks with lights going.

Hopefully just a precaution. Nothing on the cadors yet.

CADORS Number: 2009O1678
Narrative: The Air Canada Embraer ERJ-190-100-IGW aircraft (operating as flight ACA679) was concluding a scheduled IFR flight from Halifax (S.I.A.) (CYHZ) to Ottawa (M-CIA) (CYOW). The flight crew reported smoke in the cabin when the aircraft was four (4) miles final for runway 25 and requested ARFF services equipment. ARFF services equipment was placed in the standby position for runway 25. The aircraft landed without incident at 1902Z and exited onto taxiway ECHO. The runway was closed for an inspection. Ops. impact -- none.

Nice to have first hand post of an event.
On a side note you can have the same amazing response, actually they would even be on standby near the runway waving at you during your take off.
If your arrival was close enough to Christmas and you gave them a shinny 20$ US bill for the occasion.

I mean in Bamako, Mali....Not Ottawa :smt003

Next time, if any, I will put it in my expense account!

It is good to have some first hand accounts. Small world. Like I said we had landed shortly before without hearing anything on the radio. The only reason I made a post about it was because of all the city trucks we saw while enroute to the hotel.

Thanks for the post.
