Rumblings of what to do with 175 million. Just curious how many pilots they have just in case something were to happen and they decide to use the money for M & A....

Well done. That's pretty respectable in a short period.

How many planes do you have now? And how many do you have on the production line ready to roll before/on Feb 10?

Last time I checked it was 11 flying.........

9 to go by Feb 10 seems optimistic.........

...and now a word from AC...aka the joke of the day...

Rovinescu also said Air Canada was considering whether to return next year to Toronto's City Centre airport, which is currently being used by privately held Porter Airlines. Air Canada last operated out of the airport in 2006.

hmmm...putting seats in a CL415?..or perhaps a fresh paint job for the SpruceGoose...'cause sure, you can land at YTZ but there's hardly enough room for TransCap's Dash7 and a dozen or so light singles and twins at their end of the field. ...and I'm sure that walking across the parking circle in the winter or rain into a portable sized building will really impress all those frequent flyer executives before they get on a 20000 cycle Dash 8-100...ummm...oreos!

Correction - LQQ will be number 15, with 3 more arriving before Christmas. Number 19 and 20 are scheduled for Feb '10 and will be NexGen interior with the fancy new overhead bins and LED cabin lights etc.

The new terminal should open up in November.

LQO was out of sequence and arrived on the island a couple of weeks after LQP. LQQ will arrive next week.

became profitable after just nine months in operation.
And so says the financial officer right?

Actually DashX,

The financial results are audited by an outside accounting firm and since we received profit sharing cheques I would hazard a guess that we were profitable ofter the 9th month as stated in the press release. Why such a hate on for Porter anyway

Deluce saw a profitable business opportunity at the Island where Air Canada didn't. He was right, they weren't. To his credit he persevered despite Community Air, Air Canada opposition and that retard in the Mayor's office. He is providing much needed jobs not only in the airline industry, but also in the Canadian aircraft manufacturing industry right there in Toronto. And at the same time he's helping to grease the wheels of commerce in the city with his service.

What's not to like?

I think Porter offers a unique product in a niche market with lower costs than its competitors. As such they should be respected.

If Westjet could bring the Porter model across Canada it would interesting to see them go head to head against Jazz. Smaller markets brining feed into the WestJet system would bring lots more capacity and a lot more revenue. If he is adamantly saying that they are not talking I would say that they are for sure talking. Since WestJet is publicly traded he would have a non-disclosure clause which would require him to make these statements.

The good news is you'll get to ditch the hats and tunic....

If they had a choice of ditching uniforms I would think it would be yours...and more importantly your F/A's could slip into some Porter F/A attire as well! :)
