Aircraft Pilot (Contract)
Responsible for the safe, efficient and effective operation of the company's fleet of aircraft from take-off to touch-down. Responsible for the safety of the aircraft and its occupants, primarily Flight Operations Specialists, in conducting aerial surveys.
Flexibility to adjust work schedules - willingness, availability and ability to render stand-by and occasional call-back and to provide service days, evenings and weekends, as required in order to meet the company's requirements and timetable
Duties
. Operate company aircraft in a safe and economic manner from take-off to touch-down;
. Obtain information about the route, weather, passengers and aircraft;
. Work out a flight plan, including route and flying altitude;
. Calculate take off and landing weights; work out how much fuel to take;
. Supervise the loading and fuelling of the aircraft;
. Brief cabin crew before the flight;
. Carry out pre-flight checks on the navigation and operating systems;
. Communicate with air traffic control prior to take off and during flight and landing;
. Make sure noise regulations are following during take off and landing;
. Understand and interpret data from instruments and controls;
. Make regular checks on the aircraft's technical performance and position; and on weather conditions and air traffic during flight
. Communicate with aircraft occupants/passengers;
. React quickly and appropriately to environmental changes and emergencies;
. Update the aircraft log book and or write a report at the end of flight noting any incidents or problems with the aircraft;
. Be available for and render regularly scheduled Stand-By to respond to business requirements;
. Be available for and render occasional Call-Back to respond to business situation/emergencies;
. Be available on short notice to provide the company with flight services;
. Record and submit accurate timesheets to Fleet Coordinator/VP Operations for approval and processing.
Qualifications
. Completion of secondary school and graduation from a certified flying or aviation school; University degree or college diploma an asset;
. Experience on Navajo, Aztec, C206; FAA Licence required on C206
. Minimum 500 hours total flying time as PIC; Minimum 100 hours multi-engine to fly twin engine aircraft; Minimum 100 hours retractable gear; Instrument rating to fly aircraft in poor weather conditions
. Survey flying an asset
. Good knowledge of GTA airspace
. Completion of Category 1 medical, ECG, and other tests including one for colour blindness
. Strong command of written and spoken English a necessity
. Flexibility to adjust work schedules, Must be available on short notice - willingness, availability and ability to render regular stand-by and occasional call-back and provide service days, evenings and weekends, as required to meet the company's requirements and timetable
. Must have close proximity to Buttonville Airport
. Must be willing to take directions from System Operators/Flight Operations Specialists
