Re: Harmony Airways Start up again?
Sigh..............
That sign has been up for ages.
It's been said before and I'll say it again - they are gone and not coming back. Good thing too. Blows my mind why people want them back so bad.
There are other, better opportunities on the horizon.

Did it ever come down?
If they do start up, they should rebrand the airline "Air Crack Ho"

Re: Harmony Airways Start up again?
Is Dr. Ho going to run the airline from his jail cell?
That would be so sweet.

The train wreck rolls on...
METRO VANCOUVER -- Vancouver billionaire David Ho has been charged with possessing a prohibited weapon while awaiting trial in Vancouver on eight criminal counts, including unlawfully confining a woman and possessing a loaded pistol.
Ho, 58, was recently charged with possessing a spring-loaded switchblade knife and breaching his bail conditions, which included a promise to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
His latest charge stems from Feb. 12 in Richmond, when he was allegedly caught with a switchblade. His trial for that offence is scheduled for next year in Richmond provincial court.
Ho also faces trial on Oct. 11 this year, with a pre-trial conference set for July 15, in Vancouver provincial court on eight charges stemming from for an alleged incident that occurred on Dec. 28, 2008.
At the time Ho was charged, police alleged that the tycoon had contacted a woman over a telephone chat line who went to his five-bedroom mansion at 7190 Hudson St.
But when the woman tried to leave at about 4:45 a.m., Ho allegedly prevented her from leaving.
A violent struggle allegedly ensued and the woman called 911, but she didn't know the address, police alleged. She managed to get away but fractured her ankle and suffered other minor injuries, police said.
Neighbours also called 911 after hearing her screams.
Ho, who owned the high-end dealership MCL Motor Cars until he sold it last year, and founded the now-defunct Harmony Airways airline., was later charged with unlawful confinement and possession of a loaded 9mm Glock pistol, which was illegally stored.
He also faces charges of possession of cocaine and marijuana. He has pleaded not guilty to the alleged offences.
Ho was born in China and is from one of the wealthiest families in Hong Kong: He is a scion of the Hong Kong Tobacco Co. fortune.
He holds passports to several countries and was in Shanghai when charged in relation to the alleged 2008 incident. He returned to Canada and was released on $100,000 bail.
His full name is Ting Kwok David Ho. He is a longtime Liberal supporter who has donated $100,000 to the provincial Liberals since 2005 and is a former member of the Vancouver police board.
He was also a big donor to candidates for Vancouver's Non-Partisan Association and to former Liberal prime minister Paul Martin, whose leadership bid received $100,000 from the entrepreneur.
He was featured as one of the super-wealthy immigrants to Canada in author Peter C. Newman's final volume of Titans, published in 1998, which examined business leaders and Chinese business diaspora in Canada.
Ho told Newman that his grandfather was one of the first major investors to finance Bill Gates' Microsoft and the Ho family was an early investor in IBM and a major shareholder in HSBC, one of the world's largest banks.
He arrived in Canada in 1984, at age 30, after graduating from a private, all-male school in Virginia.
"When I first came here," Ho told Newman, "I'd never even heard of Vancouver before, but my wife was educated in Canada....I was most impressed - it was like being in Disneyland. I drove down Granville Street and all the houses had gardens. The weather was very nice, and I said, 'We're going to stay here'."
A year later, Ho moved here with his family and eventually become a Canadian citizen. He and his ex-wife, who have three children, divorced in 1995.
In 1987, Ho purchased for an estimated $100 million Gray Beverage, whose products included 7-Up and Pepsi. He sold the company for a sizable profit and in 1992 bought MCL Motor Cars, the city's top Jaguar, Porsche and Range Rover outlet.
Ho launched his Harmony airline in 2002 as My Airways, named in honour of his mother, then changed the name to HMY and finally Harmony.
B.C. finance minister Gary Collins left Gordon Campbell's government in 2004 to become president of Harmony but quit two years later. The airline shut down in 2007 because of empty seats and soaring costs.
Ho's business empire, called David T.K. Ho Enterprises, included DTKH Robson Developments, a property development firm, and South Alder Greenhouses. He acquired a majority stake in the University Golf Club.
He also established Viking Security, which has since been sold, with Vern Campbell, a former Vancouver police superintendent and failed NPA council candidate. Ho donated $50,000 to Campbell's campaign in 2002.
At one time, Ho had a movie-prop police car parked at his Shaughnessy home to scare off would-be burglars.
Another of Ho's connections to the police came to light in 2005 when then-Vancouver police chief Jamie Graham was investigated by the RCMP for allegedly accepting financial assistance from Ho for staging a police chiefs conference. Graham was cleared of any wrongdoing.
In 2007, Ho was stopped by police driving his Porsche in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside with two sex-trade workers. A quantity of crack cocaine was found in the vehicle but Ho was never charged.
He told the Province newspaper in 2009 that he was chronic insomniac who was addicted to helping prostitutes. He explained he who sometimes went out at night and brought sex trade workers back to his mansion.

Maybe he needs another delayed flight in Hawaii for a few hours to give him the shot in the arm motivation to start a new airline?
