MONTREAL - Air Canada has been voted the Best Airline in Canada and the Best Airline in North America by the readers of Global Traveler magazine in an international survey of business travelers.
"We are excited and proud to receive this important recognition from customers who travel most frequently and are in a position to best compare Air Canada's products and services with those of its peers. Clearly customers appreciate our on-board amenities, including our new and refurbished cabin interiors, and our consolidated hub at Toronto, which makes it easy for travelers to connect seamlessly between domestic, transborder and international flights to destinations throughout our global network," said Ben Smith, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer. "Mostly, this award is testament to the hard work of Air Canada's employees and their dedication to offering our customers a superior product."
The Global Traveler Reader Survey Awards are based on the responses of more than 25,000 readers of Global Traveler Magazine. Global Traveler readers are frequent premium travelers who average 32 round-trip flights a year, with 96 per cent traveling in first or business class regularly.
Air Canada has renewed its international and North American fleets with new Boeing 777 and Embraer aircraft. Air Canada has completed a major refurbishment program of its existing fleets to offer all customers brand new seats and personal entertainment systems at each seat, fleet wide on North American and international routes. New fleet-wide amenities include digital quality in-seat monitors with touch-screen controls offering a wide selection of audio and video on demand programming, standard in-seat power within reach of every customer and industry leading lie-flat beds in Executive First suites, Air Canada's international business class service.
In addition, Air Canada customers benefit from a simplified airport experience for connecting between U.S.-Canada transborder flights and either domestic Canada or international overseas flights world wide, via new facilities all under one roof at its main Toronto hub.
Montréal-based Air Canada provides scheduled and charter air transportation for passengers and cargo to more than 170 destinations on five continents. Canada's flag carrier is the 13th largest commercial airline in the world and serve s 33 million customers annually. Air Canada is a founding member of Star Alliance, providing the world's most comprehensive air transportation network for Canadian domestic, transborder and international travel. Air Canada aircraft offer customers individualized seatback in-flight entertainment systems with hundreds of hours of digital audio-visual entertainment.

Maybe Westjet should be on the verge of bankrupcy every other month so they can get the award.

Maybe Westjet should put lay flat seats,(or any J class seat for that matter), bigger TV's, ovens (for the hot meals) etc etc on their planes...turbo-prop wrote:Maybe Westjet should be on the verge of bankrupcy every other month so they can get the award.

You guys and your profit share checks...it's getting a little tiring, always throwing it in everyone's face. For a respected airline, you sure don't demonstrate much in the way of class...at least not on the respectable forums of Avcanada anyway.
And btw KAG, I bet I have a tv just as big as yours, and low and behold, I don't work at Westjet. How did that ever come to be?

I can see how the word "Profit" would bother you.

I'd hazard a guess that the word "dividend" or rather lack thereof, bothers WJA shareholders.

Holy shit that has to be the fastest knee jerk reaction ever. I think KAG was talking about the new tail numbers that have come with the larger TV screens! Not some mine is bigger than your comment. It was a response to the above subtle critique of our level of service.squawk 7600 wrote:You guys and your profit share checks...it's getting a little tiring, always throwing it in everyone's face. This is business travelers saying Air Canada is the best at what they do. Business travel. Its true.
Re: Air Canada voted top airline in Canada and North America
"We" as in WJ's new planes having bigger TV's, not "we" as in us koolaid drinkers.
Bad joke I guess. I have no doubt as to the size of your "TV", and no I don't want to see it...
Say Altitude
You’re right I would love dividend payments, but I can’t see that happening. I’ll have to stick to the well-known blue chip stocks for that. I'm just happy we're in the black at this point in time.

Re: Air Canada voted top airline in Canada and North America
KAG,
Sorry for the mis-interpretation. My therapist told me I should count to 10 before making any rash decisions. Makes my sim partner sweat from time to time....
btw, my tv is 27 inches, but it's not the size of your tv that counts but who is allowed to handle your remote...
Also, I do agree Westjet has a great culture and great financial stability to boot. I just hope your integrity is maintained, but I'd also love to see AC recover, and see Jazz pick up some more business. I know a lot of great guys at all three company's, and to be honest with you, all three seem to be drinking their respective brand of koolaid. In the end, there is plenty of customer's to go around, as long as everyone stays within their respective markets. Let's hope for stability all round in the coming year.

Yeah, it's easy to mis read someones post and take it the wrong way. There's alot to be said how something is said, and that can't be done online.
I too hope for recovery, I'd hate to see anyone out of work.

Hey I flew WJ last week and their where no TV's, WTF over. The Captain said it was their newest Jet and they where getting bigger TV's installed.............hour flight so I had to entertain myself with the flight
Honestly people that Bash AC should fly a few US carriers or better yet experience low cost airlines in Europe. A lot of Canadians don't know how good we have it.

Interestingly, Porter was second in Canada, WJ 3rd.

Re: Air Canada voted top airline in Canada and North America
I'm sure AC business class is very good.
But you have to admit in North America, the competition in the "Service" category (especially in the economony category) is slim to none. I can't think of one US carrier other than Continental that has anything more than abysmal service.
As one poster said, we have it pretty good in up here in Canada, and it would be no surprise if WJ, Porter, and AC were at the head of the pack for economy travellers as well.

Congratulations Air Canada.
But, I don't really agree with their category: "Best aircraft type".
How do you compare apples with oranges?
The Dash-8 is a very good airplane if that's what you need.
And I would rate the B777, A330 and B737 higher and the A340 and B747 lower.
