Doesn't sound too serious???

Nobody was injured, and the aircraft flew back to Nadi Intl. form Vomo Island resort after the incident??

From Fiji News;

FOUR tourists, including the pilot of a Pacific Island Air aircraft, are thanking their lucky stars to be alive after their THC3 Otter tumbled off the runway on Vomo Island.

Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji chief executive Netava Waqa said the incident happened on Sunday at about 6pm.

He confirmed that five people including the pilot were on board at the time.

"There will be an investigation conducted by investigators appointed by the minister responsible for Civil Aviation," he said.

"This incident is classified as an accident and it is the minister responsible for Civil Aviation through the office of the department of Civil Aviation to appoint an investigator in charge of accidents to carry out the investigation and submit the accident report."

Meanwhile, Pacific Island Air confirmed the passengers and pilot escaped injury.

The aircraft has returned to Nadi.

end.

It was my good friend that was the Pilot.
I don't beleive there is a runway on Vomo.

Can I ask what the heck you are implying with that icon? Have you ever had anything to do with the operation in Fiji? Its no wonder these posts get so screwed up

No airport on Vomo Island, so definitely a water landing.

Funny how an aircraft can flip over and its an incident but yet another plan taxi's off the taxiway into the grass and CNN is down there saying plane crash.

Bula Happy new Year.

GLL experienced a wheels down water landing at vomo. All PAX and Pilot OK. Plane ... Not so much. GLL is a great plane and is being sent back to Canada to be rebuilt. Dusty is still flying  and is still Dusty. As for any other findings its all speculation until the CAFFI final report. I dont have the weather off hand but do not think it was a factor.

Cheers.... Hope this helps

Happy new year Slipster,
That is a shame for PIS. There was a report that Dusty had an incident with the same aircraft not long before this happened. I think landing gear collapse. All the strength to my good friends.
