Re: New livery for our new -800
It'll be interesting to see what this livery turns out to be. I was actually shocked that we didn't see a special livery to celebrate 10 years at Westjet. With the airplanes coming new from Boeing anyways, it shouldn't be too hard to put a special livery on one every now and then...
Re: New livery for our new -800
The tail looks similar to what we've been using in our ads (dark sky with white clouds). Check the below links for examples:

I'm wondering if a livery announcement is on the way? New seats, different interior colors, new TV's.. new livery??

Based on the last 4 years of rumours, I assume a 787 announcement is imminent?

Still no shot of the elusive "English" side though

Awful.
That paint job ranks up there with the all - time worst paint jobs ever. Westjet has now tied Zip!
In all seriousness, who gets paid to come up with these ideas. WJ's branding is sometimes a little bit over the top, but having a play on words, or a 'pun' on the side of an A/C is brutal.
I am waiting to see what the honest opinions are of WJetters ....

Re: New livery for our new -800
It's about time Westjet joined in with a special livery on one of their aircraft. I was actually surprised we never saw one celebrating 10 years. As far as this particular paint job goes, I can't say I like it. It looks like they told one person to design the tail and told another person to design the fuselage and nobody bothered to check the two designs until they were painted on the airplane!! That being said, I hope that Westjet continues this new approach with special liveries every now and then... I mean the aircraft are coming new from Boeing anyways, I doubt it costs them much more to put different paint on them. A little competition in this area will hopefully bring good things as well... I think Air Canada's TCA and Flying Flag are some of the best ones out there but their last effort with their 75 year paint was just painfully boring.

I would have liked to seen a WestJet Vacations paint scheme.

I can't say I like it either... I hope when I eventually see it with my own eyes, it will change my opinion.

I'm giving it the thumbs down as well...man who comes up with this stuff..the way things are run now a whole committee would have had to approve it. Pretty lame, I can't tell the WJ flight attendants from AC either until I get close enough to see the scarf...

Sadly the Flying Flag is no longer.gonnabeapilot wrote:I think Air Canada's TCA and Flying Flag are some of the best ones out there but their last effort with their 75 year paint was just painfully boring.

Wow!
It looks like it belongs in one of those super duper-low cost carrier fleets in Europe.
I used to tease the ZIP guys flying the pink, or was it "fuchsia" -200 of the "Air Fruit Loop" fleet... I wonder what will be heard over the radio in regards to this cartoonish livery.
Maybe the crews will name it "Suds"
Not what I'd expect from Westjet!

eesshhh... Oh well. Cdn north, thats my favorite paint in this neck of the woods. If I had my way they would all have tiger shark mouths!
Re: New livery for our new -800
I was saving my critique until I saw the new bird for meself.
I'm sad to report an honest thumbs down.
The shades of blue look fine but the clouds look like bubble bath. I like the idea of a big bi-lingual slogan but the words of choice come about 6 months too soon when we are still sucking the hind tit a bit from a customer service point of view. The slogan feels like a jinx.
My two cents.
I would have preferred a redneck on the tail or something - at least it would have been funny.

I mostly like WJ's paint schemes. Mostly, except for this one.
Re: New livery for our new -800
It looks better in person than in the picture, but still isn't great! As far as the WestJet Vacations paint job.....wait for it!

It is not horrible but not great. I like the tail portion of the design, I think that works. The rest of the body colours is ok, however I agree the slogan does not work...

I have now seen it in person and it's an embarassment...I hope I never have to fly it...it'll happen, I know, I'll get the FO to do all the walks...
