So with Westjet hiring a good number of people this spring and Porter taking 40 or so people, how long do you think it will take to see a trend down through the smaller companies before low timers get the possible opportunity to get a flying job?
I know Westjet takes a lot from JAZZ and most likely Jazz will start pulling guys from 703 operators. Porter may lose some to Westjet as well!

What are your feelings on the hiring trend for 2010?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Air Canada hiring in late 2010... as long as there there are not radical changes with the fly past 60 case and the 787 stays on track.

Emirates looking for F/O's as well.

It should trickle down fairly quick... say within 12 mos?

Just wondering what flying Canjet does in the off season for flying? I know they are doing charter work for Transat but what do they do in the summer when that slows down?

Rank, CanJet still operates in the summer, last summer it was 5 birds (theirs) and in the winter they lease planes from Europe for the bigger demand and bring contract pilots as well. When they hire pilots it's for the core pilot group. This summer they will be operating 2 additional planes of their own, and that's why they need to hire around 30-40 pilots.

For which company?

Air Canada is currently conducting interviews for FA summer temp positions which can lead to a permanent position. 2 languages gets you in the door.
