I know been asked a million times, but I just want to make sure I understand this. If you have written your IATRA exam in march of 08 but you have been flying as an FO on twin otter in a 703/704 operations. Do you have to go re-writte after 2 years or by flying in a 2 crew enviroment you dont need to re-wriite the exam again. thanks for feed back.

You don't need the IATRA to fly a Twin Otter. Assuming that's all you flew, the exam will expire. Not that it matters because, again, you don't need it for the twotter.

Iatra is only required to operate a minimum two crew aircraft. Iatra will expire if you dont hold a PPC on a two crew aircraft. Anything over 12500 is min two crew in canada.

Nope, 12500 lbs is insignificant an AG Tractor's gross weight is around 17000 lbs its only single crew. 2-crew designation solely depends on the complexity of the aircraft, I could be wrong.

The only thing you are wrong about is the Ag Tractor, it is an Air Tractor. I think the other part is correct, looks like I will have to look that one up.

Conair flies the Grumman Tracker single pilot (Gross Weight 26,000 lbs). However like the Air Tractor it flies under a restricted C of A. Bottom line 12.5K means nothing, it is what the Type certificate under which the airplane is certified that determines how many drivers are required. That being said, I do not believe there are any passsenger carrying aircraft with a GTOW more than 12.5K that are certified in Canada for single pilot operation.
