Re: North Cariboo Air
Do they move guys off the ramp to fly? And if they do is it tough to make captain there with them having contrail requirements?
Re: North Cariboo Air
It is impossible if you only have right seat time. But if you come with some good PIC, you should be able to see the left seat. For upgrades from ramp, the last position for right seat King Air was 600 TT 200 Multi. So the ramp position isn't likely to work out very well if you don't already have some time. I believe that the average time for King Air Co-pilots right now is over 1500TT, Upgrades to left seat you can expect 2500TT and a fair bit of MPIC.

We 'gots' contrail back in late 2009. As for the hiring? We're busy. Very busy.
Yes we do promote from within off the ramp but it's a slow process. Also it is not impossible to be upgraded from right seat to left. However it takes a long time. There are faster routes to the left seat. Typically those who are willin to work at our fort st. John base will progress quicker.
But it's best to come here with some time or as a Captain.

Re: North Cariboo Air
Anyone chime in on when they would be doing call backs for the position?
Re: North Cariboo Air
I wonder with Mikisew's hanger empty/not in use NCA might consider opening a YMM base?
Re: North Cariboo Air
Scuba_Steve, I was just wondering if I'd be of interest with my time: 437 hours on Beech 1900D (SIC Type rated on Beech 1900), but only 840 hrs TTScuba_Steve wrote:We 'gots' contrail back in late 2009. As for the hiring? We're busy. Very busy.

Re: North Cariboo Air
Pat, you'd be a co-joe there for Yeeeeeeaaaaaars with those hours. Scuba might have a better answer, but my guess would be that yes they would consider you but the fact is your going to want your career to progress and your hours will hold you back from being upgradeable. They know it, and if you don't know it you would after aeons in the right seat. Have a look at the contrail requirements and know you'd be a co-joe for 4 maybe 5 or even 6 years. That's not good for anybody, least of all you. Go get PIC time and then come back south or you'll live to regret it. I sure did.

I sure hope you did not buy those BE1900 hrs at one of those pay to fly scumbag US operators like Gulfstream. If they were the result of you being hired as a regular paid line pilot than I appologize for the insinuation.......however if as I suspect, they were checkbook hours, bought at an airline where the only "hiring" criteria is a suitable line of credit, than I think you will find it hard to get anywhere in Canada without starting over on the ramp.
For all you wannabe's who are thinking of dropping a load of money down in the US for some instant "airline" time......I have 3 words..... DON'T DO IT !
Note edited as I mistakenly attributed the details of my reply to the wrong individual......Sorry Scuba Steve

Re: North Cariboo Air
hmmmm. I thought flypat might be some ex-rampie who got moved up to the right seat of the 1900, and after getting some training and a bit of time now wishes to move on to greener pastures. Perhaps that is not the case either, but if it is, it speaks volumes for why companies want training bonds.
but really it does not matter. right seat to right seat. Maybe higher pay because the second company can avoid the training outlay.
As to the US chequebook FO's. Are they really that bad?

99% of pilots give the rest a bad name
