When you look back to when Emirites and Singapore Airlines got their first A380's, their First Class products were quite spectacular. Nothing like their traditional First Class products in their A340's and B777's.
How come when AF came out with their first A380, their first class product was EXACTLY identical to the first class product found on their other wide bodies. Why didn't they do what EK and SA did with the introduction of Suites and other lavish features?
Cheers

I remember watching the John Travolta hosted documentary on A380 and it mention that when Airbus delay the program, Singapore went back to the drawing board to design an exclusive first class for the A380. The original plan was to use the new first class cabin from the 777 and place it on A380. Compare to the regular coffin business class, Singapore's A380 business class seat is huge.
Key word being COULD. If they know they can make more money with a better First Class Product, then why, in a sense, downgrade their potential?
That's my point. Maybe they can't sell a better 380 F seat for more than what they already sell a 777-type F seat for in the 380. It seems of the 4 380 carriers I looked at on seatguru, they are packing them in the most, so it sounds like they are going for volume, not luxury, to make their money.

Makes sense so I guess people pay more for luxury in the Arab world and in and aorund Singapore.
Lets say that if AF did introduce a new First Class product, would it mimick SA and EK or be something completely different... i.e, does AF have creativity in their vocabulary...

No doubt it is coming back! Flew the A-380 twice this winter, Toronto - Dubai and return. Both ways there was not an empty seat anywhere on the aircraft including First and Business Class. Do you think they are making money with that run?

They could be catering to different markets. The asian and middle east executive prefer to fly first class, than private jets. Price is no object for some people here.
