What do you think of this type of email??

Great, keeps everyone informed minimizes hassle!

Good, but maybe they should also give every pax a free snack on affected flights to make up for the inconvenience.

Bad, this info should be saved till boarding so as not to spoil company image. It will only affect a few passengers.

Hello 200hr Wonder,

We want to let you know that on some of our aircraft, we’re doing some system maintenance to the live seatback TV system. If you are travelling with us in the next few weeks, you might find yourself on a flight without seatback TV. We are very sorry for any inconvenience, and we anticipate having this temporary problem fixed soon.

We believe it’s important to let you know ahead of time so that you can bring a book, magazine, MP3 or DVD player, or toys for little WestJetters. Again, we apologize that we cannot provide this service on some of our aircraft for the next little while, and we truly appreciate your support and understanding.
Put your manager caps on, do you like this policy or would you rather just not tell people hoping that most flights will depart functional? I for one think it is great policy. Worst case: No TV, I bring a book. Best Case: TV works and I am pleasantly surprised.

Yes, it's good to see that Westjet still knows the meaning of competition. AC and Westjet are the two main airlines people choose for Canadian Travel. Westjet did this to appeal to the public. It shows the public that Westjet cares. They care for their passengers and wants them to know that there is a chance we will have no TV on your flight. It's basically good PR (public relations) and people buy into it...

Good Job Westjet and BTW, very good airline to fly if flying within Canada ONLY... otherwise, AC is the way to go!! lol

I'd say it shows some respect for the customer, and it will obviously alleviate some of the complaints that they would get if they did not warn people ahead of time.

That being said, it will make little difference to the entitled group of passengers.

I was a little upset because I got the e-mail after I took the flight with no TV's and finished my book waiting to board.

I took a flight with No tv and I never received this E-mail. It was a long flight (4h20). At least I had a book and a magazine. I could not sleep because I was in the last row and the toilet was flushing every 40 seconds or so (why can't ppl wait 4 hours neway?). They should have given a free meal

Dear god,

If I'd received an email like this I'd have canceled my trip asap.

The ONLY thing keeping me sane while flying on the white trash hauling WestJet, is to tune into something pacifying on the nature channel for the duration of the trip. Now, if only they could be on time, wouldn't that be something? I swear, there must be full page ads in the Alberta newspapers from wj telling people to show up in sweat pants. Dirty ones at that.

The race to the bottom is alive and well. :?

Hello 200hr Wonder,

We want to let you know that we will be doing a complete reservation computer change over and we’re doing some system maintenance as well. If you are planning to travel with us in the next few weeks, you might find yourself on the end of a phone for a lengthy period of time or be unable to book online. We are very sorry for any inconvenience, and we anticipate having this temporary problem fixed soon.

We believe it’s important to let you know ahead of time so that you can read a book, magazine, MP3 or DVD player, or toys for little WestJetters who may be waiting for you to get off the phone. Again, we apologize that we cannot provide our normal fast service for the next little while, and we truly appreciate your support and understanding.

How soon we forget.........AC or Westjet they both have their pros and cons...I have no problem using either..

I'd say it's typical good ol' Canadian over-politeness combined with a health dose of Westjetitude.

But in these days where everything is amazing, and nobody's happy, you have to make sure you told everybody about every little tiny potential problem or people will start screaming for free passes right after they tell you that they and their friends are never flying your airline again.
