Apparently, the low cost carrier Ryanair is going to start charging passengers for using the onboard toilets.
USA Today wrote:"By charging for the toilets we are hoping to change passenger behavior so that they use the bathroom before or after the flight," Ryanair spokesman Stephen McNamara tells the paper. "That will enable us to remove two out of three of the toilets and make way for at least six extra seats."
Just imagine if Westjet were to do this...

Give me a mile of highway and I'll show you a mile; give me a mile of runway, and I'll show you the world!

So 195 with the extra seats on this sardine can and 1 lav, charge for that...as people so often point out on here, a race to the bottom...
I doubt they will, but dammit if they ain't clever!
It is a publicity stunt, my friends. They get all sorts of great (free) newspaper coverage, while the chavs in the East Midlands reading the paper draw the conclusion that Ryanair really is dead serious about controlling costs!

"Ahhhh ladies and gents this is your captain speaking, we've just loaded up the last of the bags and will be ready to push back just a soon as the 50 pax in line to use the washroom walk on board. Don't get used to the shoulder room just yet, I saw the line and most of them looked like they probably had a hearty breakfast this morning and will be awhile yet. Just sit back a relax and read some of the advertisments on the overhead bins and remember folks you get what you pay for, you cheap bastards"
Got to love all the responses about the industry. I wonder how many of you have flown on these low price air lines or maybe you are all dedicated super elite Air Canada flyers.
Charging for the bathroom is no worse then charging $6.00 for a beer that they bought for $2,00. Let alone the charge for the garbage food you get to buy.
Maybe everyone missed the lesson when they were kids. You know the one were you go to the bathroom before you get in the car to travel. I don't think it is unreasonable to charge for flights under 1.5 hrs. Over that ya it is insane.
