I was in line up to get an interview for a flight attendent position during weekend at holiday inn (toronto). I over heard this dude talking to couple of chicks that some one (who is a pilot) works 55 hours a months and he does it all in one week so he can get the rest of the month off .. And he makes over 250K a year... Also that kid reminded the girls that he was in the army and his pilot licence is inside his backpack.. (by the way he was in the same line up to hand in his resume for flight attendnet position. That was the only line up).. I'm just wondeing what was he smoking up? Anyone knows... I think he was one of those cadet kids that have a glider licence and think that they fly a F-18.... SAD..

I'm sure some pilots do...maybe in foreign countries on long-haul flying A340's, 777, and 747...or maybe i'm naive....

Sounds like he was just getting his mack on. Cadet-kids are notorious for having no game.

Probably a cadet kid wih 13 hours of "military" glider time lol. About the 250K for a pilot, yes it does happen but not in Canada, pre 9/11 the max here was around $230K CAN, US it used to be $240K US. These days that's been cut by 20-30%. Don't get a wet dream though, it's tough and ofcourse we ain't in this business for the money right?

Some people do make $250K at this game. Unfortunately it isn't in Canada. Even more unfortunately it isn't me.

...good line....there is really nothing i can say to it. This town hates student pilots. Or maybe its just me.

Don't EVER say you're a pilot (student or otherwise). You might as well brag that you caught herpes back home at the farm. I too was once a student in Tdot Baydot. Say you drive the Zamboni at Fort William Gardens or that you lay sod in the summer and collect the pogie in the winter, they'll love you.

The sad part is that some pilots do make a quarter million dollars a year!

That kid dosen't know too much I believe that due to crew rest times you can't fly 55 hours a week.

you want to make money flying, then you must go to the other side of the pond or look for those hard to find high paying corporate jobs in North America (like the one i've got

), otherwise, look for side careers to make some coin.

Some pilots do make killer cash overseas. Even some 737BJ captains make over $350k US/yr. But then again the places they have to fly and live aren't the greatest either. Who wants to live in Dhahran, Saudia Arabia?

You can only live in Dhahran if you're a Saudi Aramco employee. Dahran is the town that Aramco built, the city consists of the Saudi ARAMCO compound, the airport, the US Consulate and the King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals.

Was chatting with a UPS 76 F/O last week at DFW... he said their skippers make US$270. And I'm sure that they don't pay 55% income tax, either.
