Air shows in YXU area this summer 2010?
The last time we had an air show in London, ON was I think in 2004. Does anyone know when the next one is?

Not sure we'll ever see a YXU specific airshow again. There just doesn't seem to be any businesses interested in taking financial responsibility now, and the construction at the airport has taken so much of the space formerly used for static display as well as parking areas.
St Thomas has it's wings and wheels show every 2 years, so 2011 is the next one. Many of the planes base at YXU for that.
On the Snowbirds schedule, they are at Kitchener June 19 and 20, Windsor Aug 21 and 22, Brantford Sept 1 and of course Toronto Sept 4, 5 and 6. That looks to be it for southern Ontario.

London was working on bringing the airshow back for 2010. When the airport was awarded the construction of the cargo terminal, parking/secruity would be an issue. There has been talk about the airshow coming back for 2011. That is all I really know.

There will also be airshows coming up in Midland, Tilsonburg, Edenvale , Brampton and Guelph

If you don't mind the drive or short flight Gatineau airport has a pretty decent sized event planned for the 17th/18th/19th of September. There will be a big EAA fly in and an airshow on the Saturday so this could actually be pretty large.

Well Gumps
Any event that has flying demonstrations is an airshow.
ie : showing airplanes flying in the air
You don't need big name performers or fancy stunts to have an airshow.
Besides many of the pilots that attend these events fly in airshows, fly ins, open house events, etc . To us they are all air shows.
The worlds first air shows consisted of one or two airplanes which would make Brampton and Guelph huge events in comparison.
Both of the above host excellent events that have very good attendance numbers for their size.
Try attending one instead of trolling forums looking for threads to be picky or critical about . You might end up being happy for a change .

You simply wouldn't believe the amount of paper that has to be pushed to get an 603.01 "airshow" SFOC. Most people are simply not capable of doing that - it's an enormous undertaking for someone who has never done it before - it's a full-time job for several months. Hiring a consultant - usually a retired TC inspector - is really the only viable choice for most people.
GUMPS: if you'd like to donate a few tens of thousands of dollars to pay for consultants to get airshow SFOC's for these locations, we would all really appreciate it!
