Hey guys does anybody have any thing they can tell me about Jackson in Flin Flon, ill be driving thru next week, and was hoping to stop by and check it out. Appreciate it

CP is the nicest guy I ever met. But don't be cocky. Guy who talked to him before me was cocky and did not get to far. Bill (I think that is his name) sat me down talked to me about the industry etc... and said get a float rating and some hours and try again next season. All in all cool guy. Their hangar is just to the right of the terminal building, and their YFO float base is a 15 min drive away. I hitched hiked and got their and back in 2 hours.

Jackson Air is probably the best place to start your career.

I spent three years at Jackson's and really have no regrets. The equipment is good, and if you put your time in you should move up the ladder pretty quickly. Once you start flying the bigger machines the pay gets quite good...but expect to earn it. Actually, I should say expect to earn your money from the day you show up...it's hard work but it doesn't come without reward.
And the beer is always cold at the ole' "Unwinder." (and the ladies aren't!)

Oh yeah, makes sure you do not land on their strip in Channing when you go up there. I did and it didn't go over very well. I geuss that its "PRIVATE"

Needless to say I didn't get the job.

It sure is a good place to get your foot in the door.

They like to mold their pilots fresh from the iron so all the new hires have little or no previous experience. but the older you are the better chance you have at flying right away.

Flin Flon is a great place to live, I go back to party whenever I can.

I started there and am always met with a warm reception when I mention that fact. Best of luck to you.

Bill Jackson is the the guy to talk to. He called to my present job for a reference of a previous employer. He sounded like a pretty good fella. As said b4 he likes the fresh guys. No bad habits, hungrey for the flying. From what he said it is a season on the docks, then into an A/C. He also said when he hires personality plays a part. He doesn't want a punk/prick/asshole working around with him and his crew. So if ya have good character, are willing to work hard, and can handle Flin Flon, give'r. Good luck bois.

Bill and his wife are pretty nice people. She makes darn good cookies too.

He seemed to me to be a no BS kinda straight shooter. He'll play your friend to get damming info out of you though. Like C'mon tell me honestly, you've done aerobatics with passengers on board, right? Or Oh you snowboard? So you smoke grass then eh?


Things he told me: I'd prefer someone who doesn't have a an IFR since they'll probably come back year after year rather than getting a twin flying job as soon as they have a few hours. And something to the effect of I should have spent my money on float time rather than a college diploma.

Nooo he didn't hire me, but if I was ever in the area again I'd for sure drop by for some of his wife's cookies and a cup of coffee. cj

He asked me if I smoke, and at the time I did. Than he told me that he couldn't hire a smoker that would be like hiring half a man. I thought that that was a little funny seeing that he had just quit smoking.
