Disclaimer: I'm not a pilot

But according to Doug from AC (from the flight deck) they are hiring 51 pilots. Hopefully just a friendly heads up and I'm guessing most already knew.

51 is just the beginning guys. They didn't want to publish a huge bid prior to the November Judicial review vis a vis retirement.
Hang in there..despite what some say, all the BS etc etc...it's a great place to work.

Apparently they'll have a pool of over 3500+ resumes to choose from. Good luck too all.

I've heard they might need as many as 250 pilots by Christmas time ...

Just a rumor but, no smoke without a fire !
True or not, its all positive

Best of luck to all

Im curious; what are the minmums at which they tend to hire at exactly? Not the minimums they have posted on their website, but the experience at which guys are actually getting asked into the interview and getting hired with?

Cheers.

From what I understand, they tend to weight things towards people on the experienced side.
But that is no guarantee of anything, and there will be exceptions.

Their minimums are technically 1000 hrs, so that means almost anyone who has a professional flying job in Canada will apply, not to mention a swarm of guys overseas. A few loudmouths here will complain about of the lower time folks getting hired (insert your 'favorite' low-timer: kids of AC pilots, women, minorities, Frenchies, etc...). There will be exceptions, but in general these folks are qualified people. Life is too short to get angry like so.

I don't begrudge anybody anything. I'll be applying, along with the 4000+ other professional pilots in this country. I'll keep my fingers crossed, maybe I'll get lucky and get called to interview and get the job, maybe I won't. I've worked long and hard to get where I am - hopefully on the day I interview with AC, I'll get some breaks, and get the job. It would be a dream come true for me. But if not, life goes on, I'll just dust myself off and get ready for the next interview. There is a lot more in this world to do than just get hired by AC.

Good luck to everyone.

I wonder which equipment they're hiring for. Or if it's a range of equipment. Would the Embraer's be an accurate guess?

Last hiring cycle the entry positions where E170/190 FO and Cruise Relief on the long haul machines. There was a period they did direct entry A320 FO, but I think that was a LOA to make it work. Someone other than me may be more enlightend.

My suggestion, even to low time pilots, is apply anyway. If you don't apply you definitely won't be called for an interview; if you do, you might get lucky (even if it is a long shot!)

Same goes for any job out there really.

I would not accept anything less than direct 777 Captain, time to wax up the mustache!

So Im not sure if they want cover letters added and sent with resume, all they ask for on the website is to fill out application and send resume. Any one sending cover letters or sending em regardless. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

If you are at the point of your career where you are applying to a major company for a job that will potentially be paying you over six figures, you better be sending a cover letter. Send it as one file if necessary but I can almost guarantee if you send a resume without one, you won't be getting a call. Best of luck!

Just curious, They are gonna have thousands of resumes sent to em and wasnt sure if they take the time to read cover letters or just look at resumes for total time and types flown. Also they dont ask for it, which implies maybe they dont want it because of the time it would take. Thanks for your opinion.

You are right, although it does take time to go through resumes you can be sure there will be more than one person sifting through them as well as months before they would call anymore. My brother-in-law is VP of HR at L-3 and he told me he's thrown out resumes that were printed on regular computer paper. If he felt the paper and it was cheap he would toss the resume. He never read the cover letters but if they were missing they'd be disqualified as well. Some companies use word filters for online submissions and they pick out certain words that meet the criteria. Don't have enough words? Bye bye resume. Its just a luck game at that point, the best dont always get picked.

Anybody "in the know", know if the cog test, the mmpi, and the tqas are back? Maybe they will hire based on flying skills like you might find in a sim eval?

I filled out the application and recieved an email saying.

A preliminary review of your recent application indicates that you meet the preselection criteria for this position. However, we have not received the following information from you:

Resume
Cover Letter
Additional Information

and there was a link taking me to a page where you could type or paste a cover letter and resume(which I did). I cant get back to that page now. I had already attached a file with the application that included a cover letter and resume.

Anyone else???

Yeah I got one of those too... I just clicked the link the cut and pasted my CV and resume... of course correcting any tabs that got a bit screwed up in the transfer.

Shortly there after I got a similar email to the effect 'we 've got everything we need from you now. Thank you and play the waiting game.'

Did anyone not get that email asking for more information (ie Cover letter, resume, additional information)?

I got the same email. I had my resume attached and still received it. I copy and pasted my cover letter but not my resume because the format got screwed up, I hope it is ok.
