Studying Tips
It's been a while since I hit the books, so I'm asking if any of you have any solid tips on studying. I find that things outside work play too big a role to dedicate say 2 hours consistantly each night.
Any tips?

Re: Studying Tips
Having written many many exams in my time one of the things that I found very useful was to start by writing a test exam. That way you find out immediately where you are weak. Then spend time on your weak areas and try another test exam. Repeat until your marks are where you want them.
I did this all throughout University and I found that it shaved a lot of time off studying 'everything'. I also found to wonderful effect that the teachers were lazy and would simply compose new exams from questions from the past 3-4 years tests .. which lead to one or two undeserved instances of acing exams
So go grab a bunch of examples and do them to find your weak spots. Even if you score 30% you will know where to spend your energy and it will save you studying time.
One rather humours incident I remember was where the teacher copied a past years exam question incorrectly into the one I had to write. The error essentially made the problem unsolvable and I recognized it immediately, showed it was not solvable then made the change to show how it could be solved with the minor change. .. got 110% on the exam

Re: Studying Tips
The biggest motivator for me in to book the test or exam. It forces me to focus any and all free time.
+1 on the practice exams. Not only for showing your weak areas, but also getting you used to TC's way of thinking (or whoever wrote the test).

Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?

Re: Studying Tips
What worked best for me was to go running and study after, I would get home grab my study stuff (big fan of the computer practice tests) ans study at the cafe, something about the background noise and the overall vibe just worked out well for me.
Re: Studying Tips
Yeah, I found studying in public places to work better for me as well.
Re: Studying Tips
True, trying to study alone in a room is booring. Often just having a bit of buzz around makes you feel less isolated. Studying the same material with others can also work well as you can quizz each other to make it less booring.Yeah, I found studying in public places to work better for me as well.
I don't know about running, but I used to consume dangerous quantities of Twinkies and would never have made it through without them

Re: Studying Tips
Try to study with someone else even if the subjects aren't related, it keeps you motivated.
