I compiled original pictures and video segments to produce this video as a memorial in remembrance of the aircrews who flew the Lanc during WWII.

One of my old neighbours Douglas Stewart DSM DFO was shot out of his Lancaster and spent some time at the camp that the great escape took place from.An old friend from Thunder Bay lost his dad when his Lancaster crashed on a training for the Damn Busters mission.A lot of the pilots never flew again after the war as they did not experience any fun while flying those great machines.
Randy Randall helped convert the first Lancasters for spraying against the spruce bud worms in Quebec.He got the Chemicals from Japan that in his words "did not hurt the birds".Randy and the Lancasters saved quite a few trees and birds using the Lancasters across Canada during peacetime making the pulp and paper industry more productive while saving the wee birdies .A peacetime mission that the crews could be proud of ,must have been a lot better than having the Lufwaffe trying to kill you .

Wow. thanks for this. Yes, there are numerous amazing stories related to the Lancaster, pre- and post-war. Nice to here the events from the actual source. And more paramount as the number of survivors gradually decreases.

Another good one a friend made from the Michigan airshow last year...very appropriate on this 11th of November.

I have compiled a list of all the Stewarts with the R.C.A.F. who became P.O.W.'s during the Second World War. Can you identify your man? Was he a P.O.W. at Stalag Luft III (L 3)?
