Re: London Air Services orders Global 7000 . . .
From the horses mouth salaries at LAS:
Lear 45 FO start: 50K
604 FO start: 57K
Lear 45 Capt start: 70K
604 Capt start: NA (don't hire direct entry)
Current averages are much higher, plus they get RRSP match which adds a minimum of 2k per year and much higher if you stick around for a few. Also I'm told they have an awesome schedule. If it were me, I'd accept a couple grand less to get the ability to plan my life and see my kids. sure it's not the best pay ever, but it's clearly on par, and even above average when you look at total compensation. the low turnover is a testament to the quality work environment.
XSBANK: don't post what you don't know. I'd agree that the aviation industry pay is dick these days, but LAS is clearly on par, if not above average for the type of work they do. The only caveat, is apparently they hired a couple lower time FO's at 40K a few years ago, but that practice has stopped because of the long time it takes to upgrade the lower time guys.

With the Global and Lear 85's on order, sounds like an exciting place to work!!
Their current fleet of 3 Augusta Westland Helicopters, 5 Lear 45XR's, and 3 Challenger 605's!!!
That would be an amazing fixed wing flight department for Toronto!!!

Their Lear 85's should begin service in 2013!! Five on order . . .

Re: London Air Services orders Global 7000 . . .
Given that it's an internet forum and I have no idea who you are, then I don't think I'd be surprised by anything. But when you make a comment like you did at the top of the thread, without any context, then you're bound to get a rebuttal.xsbank wrote:Lightoff, you would be surprised what I know.
There's no doubt that a purely private operators pay more, and LAS as well should pay more. Most operations should be paying more in my opinion. Especially given the cost of living in YVR.
Anyways, whatever....you made a simple comment without context. I agree with you they don't pay enough. I had an offer there a few years ago and had to turn it down, but in retrospect I wish I could have taken it because I would have a lot more time at home with my family and as i get older, I realize the the top salary around isn't necessarily worth it. I'll take a good schedule (which they seem to have at LAS) and a little less pay any day.

Re: London Air Services orders Global 7000 . . .
At list prices the order is well over $100 million. Is that the money that should have been paid to the pilots that is now being redirected to renew the fleet? They can afford to buy them coz they pay their pilots dick.
You can interpret that however you would like.
Re: London Air Services orders Global 7000 . . .
Pika where are you getting your information on the list price?

Re: London Air Services orders Global 7000 . . .
That was a cool answer . .
So Global 7000 $65 million, 5 Lear 85's $103 million.
Never mind the 14.5 million each for their new choppers!!

Currently there is a 6 month backlog on Learjets, 11 months on Challengers,

I'm not sure when LAS is taking delivery of the 7000...but it is several years away, I'm sure, as I think first deliveries are scheduled for around 2016, no?

Correct!!!
Deliveries to customers for the Global 7000 are planned for 2016 and
for the Global 8000 in 2017. LAS is the launch customer for the
Global 6000 and 7000!!!
