Jazz information
I’m thinking about applying to Jazz, however, I was hoping for some info before I submit a resume. So here’s my deal…… Currently I’m employed flying a business jet with just over 700 hours jet time. I`m making 51k (as an FO) which equates to 3200.00 clean monthly. We also have some RRSP matching stuff (up to 5% - which I take full advantage of).
I`m trying to figure if this is even possible. The wife and I are planning for kids next year, therefore, I'm doing some homework. I enjoy my job but spending 8-10 days on the road will be tough with little juniors running around. Any help would be appreciated.
A – year one to year five pay scale (gross)
B – Whats your take home pay monthly
C – Per-diems
D – how many days on the road
E - can I be based in YYZ
F – travel benefits

Very good benefits, with AC, Thomas Cook, and Z Fares. Starts from day 1.Bouncy Castle wrote:I’m thinking about applying to Jazz, however, I was hoping for some info before I submit a resume. A – year one to year five pay scale (gross)
Year 1 starts at 40.00 an hour Year 5 is 56.67 an hour
B – Whats your take home pay monthly
Not sure what the take home is for the first few years. Probably starts at about $3500 with perdiems. By year five probably about $4500 a month..
C – Per-diems
Per Diems are between $750 and $1200 a month depending on how many days worked
D – how many days on the road
Count on working about 16 days a month. Majority of pairings are 2, 3 or 4 dayers.
E - can I be based in YYZ
Yes, as long as you have seniority to hold it.
F – travel benefits
Re: Jazz information
Bouncy,
We just had a little girl this year. The hardest part of having this job with her is not the money. Its by far the time away from her. However for my wife and I while I am gone I get as much rest as possible, than when I get home, Abigail is all mine.
Now I don't know your financial situation, but as a career job we are a awesome company. Are health benefits are second to none, our pension is the cats ass now, and as already mentioned the other benefits are amazing.
With my sitution I look at is as not the short term, but the long term benefits of leaving. Taking a 10K pay cut now will not be so hard in 3 years when you could possbily be a left seat make 70K debating to come than. Thats alot harder.
Also for somebody thinking of kids, In our new contract instead of taking Pat Leave you can take a reduced block only for double the time. Meaning that when your child is born, you would get only a year through EI, with our contract you get the year but now you get to double it. So it would be 2 years. The best part is that you'll make more doing this than you would on EI. (I'm on one until May)
cheers,
my take is that with a family you really couldn't go wrong coming here. Lots to look forward to in the coming years, the guys with 30+ years are actually walking around with smiles now with everything that is being talked about/what is going on here.
