Westjet Buddy Passes For Sale

Post by Blue Yonder »

Doing a little search for concert tickets on kijiji and came across lots of folks selling their buddy passes.

I don't know how you Westjet Owners usually take care of this...I'd hate for you to have the buddy pass system get complicated like ours.
  • 8 Buddy Passes to anywhere WestJet will fly !!!!!
  • westjet travel pass
  • amazing deal ~~ buddy passes for WestJet ~~ fly anywhere they do
  • and so on...

Yeah, that's bad news. Whoever is selling them online on a public site is not too bright. I'm sure someone from WJ is probably posing as a potential buyer as we speak. BUSTED!

Yep, all because of some greedy people, we have to travel with our buddy. It's very frustrating, so much that I haven't bothered to use them. We wanted to fly my wife's sister in from California, so we have to fly down there, pick her up, then fly down there again to drop her off, and it's not free either. With the service charges to go both ways for one of us and her round trip, she can buy a seat sale and come here with no standby hassel for about the same price.

I'm with AC and we had the same problem. A bunch of mental midgets selling buddy passes.Result: We now have to travel with the "buddy". I've used one once in about 5-6 years. You guys better nip this in the bud or they'll be gone.

I didn't know you had to travel with your buddy! That sucks. I'm glad WJ doesn't do that.

I would keep this thread going so someone can put a stop to this. The stupid few are going to ruin it for everyone. I also notice not one of them mention the fact that its standby travel.

We didn't have to before 2001ish (I can't quite remember) but it changed because people were bartering/selling them. Often the purchasers were not told/ or did not realize they were standby only and they made a huge stink with the CSA's when they didn't get on the plane.

This is how it started as AC and now the system really sucks.

This happened last year, and it squashed pretty quick. I dare say if this person is caught, they will lose their travel rights, if not worse.
Fu@king retards.

It would almost be worth having corporate security set up a Kijiji purchase "sting" on these vendors.
Just like many have mentioned, it only takes one or two idiots to ruin life for everyone.

as an outsider looking in these would be the type of posts that have kept me from applying. when someone is doing something like this do you as employees first try to talk to the offender, cause it sounds like your ready to lynch the guy and while far fetched he may not realize he's doing something wrong, or it could be his kid/wife/brother who posted the add. the corprate security sting just seems a little much, then again I've never had buddy passes.

This person(or persons) is messing with "my" benefits! This would happen at any other company....you obviously don't really want to work here if you won't apply for this kind of reason! We all know you're not supposed to sell buddy passes.

You've obviously failed to see all the positive reasons for applying.....

If it were actually a true ad by someone selling buddy passes, twouldn't surprise me to discover the employee (a) hasn't been here long, and (b) was waiting until the profit share cheque arrived before leaving the company, and hence does not care about the repercussions.

One scenario.

A lot of WJers are old timers and have been with the company for awhile, I think that their just used to being on the smaller side and watched out for, not dealing with many problems like this before because the employees all cared so much about the company seeing it grow and all, I just feel this way as I was hired earlier this year and all the "old timers" in westjet just don't want to see the company loose it's morale value .. but hey as they company grows your going to get people who sneak by that aren't exactly what you're used to having around.

Some of us actually give a shit about our employer and the privileges we get. If you don't "get" that - don't apply.

avaitor2010, The reason were mad is because other companies in the past have taken away there buddy passes or changed the requirment to travel with that pass because their employees were selling them.
It only takes a few bad experiences and then managment changes the policy, don't believe me, ask the Air Canada folks on here about their buddy passes.

I've done this before. I go to westnet and cut and paste the rules for buddy passes and fwd it to the enspiring entrepenur. Ussually they get the hint and pull their passes, along with a note that their ad will get passed to corprate security if the ad isnt gone the next day.

that seems like a lot more reasonable response than "let's lynch the fucker" but like I said, I've never had buddy passes

There were actually two ads, I sent them my replys, see what happens. Of course you have the "super cool" mom trying to buy them to get her kids out east. I didn't get the "mind your own fucking business" emails yet so I'll post what happens tomorrow.

Yup our buddy pass system is a joke. Pretty much impossible to use. Sad thing is that AC could have just pulled the passes of the offenders. Instead they went after the all the employees. Kinda like kindergarden all over again. One person ruins it for everyone!
