Jobs Jobs everywhere!

Post by sstaurus »

I would just like to say it's great to see all the flying gigs being posted, it's a good time for those of us looking! Any other low-timers out there finding what they're looking for and getting calls??

Yes I noticed too there are many job postings.
It's a very good sign for us who want to move up. Don't miss the boat folks!
It's almost at the point where a low timer can pick and choose where he wants to go. :partyman:

I think most on here would agree that anything less than 3000 to 5000ish hours is considered low time.

Goodluck with your job hunt.

Its a great time to be looking for work because there is lots of jobs available......if you are a single male College grad with 5000 hrs + TT, 1500 hrs glass cockpit airline jet PIC, and a current 737 NG or A319/320/321 renewed within the last 3 months PPC, able to start work immediately..........

There's been a few job postings for King Air FO's that you would be perfect for.

Job seeking pilots seem to think it's all about your TT, but that's not the case. Having the time required only makes you eligible to apply. What gets you the job is how you go about applying, your personality, your appearance, your manners, etc.

Imagine two servers applying for one job in a high end restaurant. Just because one has done the job for ten years doesn't mean he'd get hired over someone with half the experience and twice the personality.

In the end, getting hired is going to depend on the references given by your past employers regarding your skills, work ethic, decision making, way-about-you etc.

As a former CP, I've passed over lots of guys with good TT, but zero personal skills. The art of the firm handshake, solid eye contact, and a comfortable conversation with the right mix of listening and speaking is definitely waning in 2011. Maybe less TV, video games, computer time, and more interaction with fellow human beings, intelligent conversation and keeping up with current events is what the world needs. (I'm not saying this is you...I'm just saying...)

Good luck

And remember, good help is hard to find, regardless of the economic times. As soon as you figure that out, you'll never have to look for another job again.

You may be right. But for the most part in this industry it's who you know, who your daddy flew for and who you taught to play golf. You talk about the right attitude but it's really difficult to open your mind and trust a future employer when all the ones in the past have lied and cheated to you. It's easy to notice the difference between and young and old pilot, the seasoned pilot is the one that believes nothing of what he hears and half of what he sees.

100% agreed. Fewer and fewer people have the neccessary social/interpersonal skills that are pertinent in finding and maintaining a decent job.

I disagree guys. The kids are alright.

I meet lots if different people that would do a great job and are interesting to talk to. I wish we could hire them all, but there just aren't enough jobs to go around.
