Re: Calls for upcming courses
Are those calls for interviews or for already interviewed candidates?
Re: Calls for upcming courses
But what about your beloved Jazz? What's wrong with you?
Re: Calls for upcming courses
You mean the same beloved Jazz you worked for before your head blew up cause you're flying a 737? Thanks for the intelligent response LisaS as usual.LisaS wrote:But what about your beloved Jazz? What's wrong with you?

Huh?
I want to die like my grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers...
Re: Calls for upcming courses
I think what he was trying to spell was, through retirements; which is untrue. Carry on.

Re: Calls for upcming courses
Retirement will eventually have to be factored into the hiring plan. I would imagine in the next 5-10 years a lot of guys will hang up the wings at WJ.
Re: Calls for upcming courses
True, but the average age of the Capt. group is 43, F/O is 38.stickontheice wrote:Retirement will eventually have to be factored into the hiring plan. I would imagine in the next 5-10 years a lot of guys will hang up the wings at WJ.

Re: Calls for upcming courses
Any info on how many people are in the pool? How many groundschools is Westjet going to run this year?
If your in a Pool, are you pretty much gonna get on a groundschool?

Hmm. Wonder what happened. Too late for an April fools joke

Re: Calls for upcming courses
Hi,
All the guys have been called for May 16th.
I haven't had time to update the rest of the pool yet due to being on the road last week.
I'll have some time this week.
Cheers!
Dave.

Re: Calls for upcming courses
Hey Dave,
I was wondering if you might be able to shed some light on the hiring trend for this year at Westjet. It's been quite a while since I've been on this website, mainly due to the negativity that is rampant, and well, I would rather be up on the mountain or taking advantage of a windy day on the water than stare at a computer!
Having said that, I'm still incredibly keen on gaining an interview with Westjet and am wondering what else might help me achieve that goal. I don't mind this being for all to see, as unlike how some peers in this industry act, I think we should all be out to help each other in our career goals. It's amazing to me how some people can act in order to get ahead of the next guy in this industry, when really it should be a brotherhood/sisterhood in working together to raise the bar for everyone.
Anyways, ethics aside, I've had an application in at Westjet ever since I can remember. I now have just over 6000 hours that I've gained over the years, the bulk of which is with an airline. I have gads of multi-PIC time, turbine time, jet time, an aviation diploma, and a university degree, plus a few Westjet internal references and an internal letter of recommendation. So I guess my question now is, what else might I be able to do in order to gain the attention of your recruitment team, and is Westjet still running groundschools for 2011?
I'm sure there are plenty of others in the same boat as me regarding experience, lifestyle outside of aviation, education, and drive to gaining a position at Westjet, so please feel free to shed some light!
Thanks a ton... Now it's time to shut this computer off and get outside!
