Bearskin New Aircraft Type, New Route
Saab 340 in NWO and MB; YKF-YUL
Effective May 1, 2011, Bearskin Airlines will introduce a new aircraft type to its route network within Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario.
A Saab 340 aircraft operated by Calm Air of Thompson, Manitoba in Bearskin Airlines livery will provide service between Winnipeg, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay. The 34 seat Saab 340 is equipped with twin turbine engines, standup cabin and lavatory. This pressurized aircraft will offer enhanced comfort and similar speed to Bearskin’s current equipment type, the 19 passenger Fairchild Metroliner....
....Also on May 1, 2011, Bearskin Airlines will commence nonstop scheduled service between The Region of Waterloo International Airport and Montreal Trudeau International Airport. Montreal will become Bearskin Airlines’ 18th city served and its second nonstop destination from The Region of Waterloo International Airport.
More HERE.

Hey congrats to the Bear! Rode in the 'tube' many times but it will be nice to have a larger, less cramped ride.

Re: Bearskin New Aircraft Type, New Route
perhaps he meant good thing they aren't being kept as a 703/04 airline while all the 705 stuff is handled by Calm Air
Re: Bearskin New Aircraft Type, New Route
if you read the article, slower this time
it says calm air will operate the saab until bearskin is able to do so...
bearskin is a 704 airline
calm air and bearskin have the same owners, calm air isnt out to take over bearskin, they are both profitable doing their own thing...

Re: Bearskin New Aircraft Type, New Route
Actually I followed the link and read the whole article
"The Saab 340 will be used within Bearskin Airlines existing route network on flights where demand has grown to warrant an increase in capacity. Upon successful integration of this new aircraft type into Bearskin’s system, a second aircraft will be introduced as early as fall 2011. Bearskin Airlines plans to have its own crews operating and maintaining this equipment type once granted authority from Transport Canada."
This is the part I was talking about, seems natural to have an established 705 carrier start out the operations for them since it is all one big family now anyway.

Re: Bearskin New Aircraft Type, New Route
I don't know.....
I think I like the old brown and orange paint scheme better.
This one looks too modern for Bearskin.

love the paint, Hope it works out for the bear.
Re: Bearskin New Aircraft Type, New Route
Not really. Bearskin and Wasaya only share two similar routes, YRL-YXL and YXL-YQT. I think Wasaya should be more concerned about Calm Air and maybe Superior Airways.BingBong wrote:buh bye Wasaya

Re: Bearskin New Aircraft Type, New Route
I think the writing is on the wall for Wasaya. It is not however due to Bearskin, but more the Big Green Machine and the entire EIF. I can see them steamrolling through Wasaya at some point.Kzanol wrote:Not really. Bearskin and Wasaya only share two similar routes, YRL-YXL and YXL-YQT. Re: Bearskin New Aircraft Type, New Route
Yes but Wasaya has a corner on the market for band travel as they are owned by the band so regardless of price the band travels with Wasaya... Just sayin'
