Anyone seen this show? just happened to catch it last night on the national geographic channel....this one takes the cake! on the other threads i'm usually the one saying "its just a tv show...relax" well this one is so over done with fake drama i could barely watch it. in the first 15mins here are a few of the lines. "flying is dangerous, if you don't want risk...don't fly". a guy flying fuel to a mine is described as a pilot "turning his plane into a flying bomb!"... "even for a veteran flier, there's nothing like solid ground". there were plenty more but i gotta go... there were some nice flying shots and a trip with the ntsb the day after a crash, something ya don't see everyday.
anyways, i guess we've got another show to watch.
jet.
Same, saw it for the first time last night. Liked the scenery and was watching for places I've been, but yes lots of over emphisizing regular everyday stuff. "Pull-up, Pull-up, Pull-up." Wondered though how a guy with 50 years flying in the bush and mountains, heads off with his "bomb" goes OTT, pokes his nose back through and says "there's the airstrip, how lucky" only to find it's the wrong camp and that now he was going to be in critical fuel situation if he can't find the right airport. Where did his GPS tell him he was. I can't imagine that he really didn't know where he was. But, like the others aviation reality ones, I'll dial in again next week.
I watched a repeat of the show last night and it was a bit entertaining because of the aerial shots but the rest was a bit hokey.
One thing that was missing were some chicks with big tits and tight sweaters.
Can you imagine teaching a sprog pilot how to deliberatley land on a major highway in the rain with an old Piper Pacer? Then, without diverting traffic, take-off again. TC Enforcement would have a shit hemorage over that one.
For NTSB to solve the cause of a major accident with a fatality in a day or so seems to be a bit of a streach to me but that was the only sequence that was done well.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.
I hate the drama for drama's sake we're getting on all of these northern pilot shows. I understand the 'need' for conflict but the phony danger takes away from the very real dangers.
For example; that guy flying diesel into the gold camp in a Turbo Otter. Gee...where's the camp? Well, I guess I could just look on my gps but instead I'll just fly around mountain valleys in the rain at cloud base.
Please...the reality should be dramatic enough. Cut some of the crap.
