Flight case in a Dash 8

Post by Beach 200 »

I am looking at getting a flight case for my new job on the Dash 8. Aviation world has cases that are all expensive. I was looking at this case at Sporty's for $250 (US vs CAN dollar make it a good deal): http://www.sportys.com/PilotShop/product/12632

It measures almost the same as most from aviation world except its 10.5 inches deep, whereas most others are 8 inches. My question is will this case fit in the flight deck between the seat and the wall (Not in between seats in front of the flight deck door)? For those that have a flight bag that is 8 inches deep, is there much more room?

When I flew the dash I saw people with similar bags have no problem fitting it in the slot next to the seat.

The size of the bag shouldn't be a problem. The price is kind of steep though.

Lots of room in a Dash 8 for a flight bag. Personally I carry one of those Swiss rollar bags that Costco carries. Works great and keeps all my Jepp amendments handy. I'll get to them one day

Seriously...get a rollar bag.

A Dash 8? Keep your Ray Bans on your belt, wear your great big Blue Angel Citizen watch on your wrist, keep your fresh ATPL in your Dutch Admiral's coat....you don't need no stinking flight bag!

You do realize that that is probably 1% of your entire yearly before tax salary, just to look cool?

IPAD and $70/year gives you current jepps and you can load your companies sop's and all other items you carry other than your head set and your ray-bans. You got to leave Doc alone he's still licking his wounds from the smack down I laid on him earlier in the week.

Hey Beech200 guy,

The bag you have posted in the link above will definitely fit, I've seen a few guys with them.

I believe the app is free to download. You just need a Jepp subscription.

Hmmm.. just checked iTunes. It looks like it's only available for iPad. I could have sworn I saw an iPhone version.

I love my iPhone but looking at plates on it would be a pain in the butt!

iPad is a cool idea.

If he's flying a Dash 8, at least he should be able to download a runway stop distance chart on an iPhone?
Just could not help myself...

Do they have an app for professional discretion that we can download to Doc's head?

Couldn't help myself there either! I may need the app too.

Agreed. Thought that 'other' guy wouldn't let it go, but then there's this guy.
